Fighting Out Of The Darkness ;
Fighting Out Of The Darkness is a platform I have created for kids and teens dealing with mental illness. Kids and teens can come to the page or coming soon, Fighting Out Of The Darkness website. You can Also find us on Instagram Fighting Out Of The Darkness. On the page they can instant message when they need someone to talk to and to just listen, being someone who has dealt with anxiety-depression since I was twelve years old and I'm now in my thirties. I know how hard it is to talk to people. Family, especially parents, friends or a professional. For me I was just scared to tell people how I felt, and thought if I talk to my friends they would make fun of me. I know they wouldn't but I guess that's just how anxiety and depression make you feel. To be honest a lot of the time I didn't know why I was feeling the way I did, I do have to say this I’m in no way a professional therapist, but I feel being a person who deals with mental illness, I can relate and help with some situations. If I cant, I'm here to listen. For me, I've always found it easier to write my feelings or how things were going for me, either in a journal or texting someone I feel comfortable with. Its never good to hold inside the struggles we are dealing with, we have to get it out or it will eat us up inside. Not everyone has someone they can talk to, Fighting Out of The Darkness is here to listen and hopefully help you.
On the website there will be a section where kids and teens can come share their stories, I'm hoping this will help and show that whatever you are dealing with in your life you are not alone. My idea is to have the website as a learning tool as well, There will be a resource section, where kids and teens can find websites for mental illness or even hotline numbers for su***de as well. there will also be a live chat section on the website if kids and teens need to talk to someone right away. I will also be doing a podcast as well and plan on going live a couple times a week, would love to share stories and have listeners call in or even live chat ideas they might have to help. Maybe the listeners have dealt with similar issues and can share what has helped them get through their tough times. I would also like to have guests come on the show and share their stories themselves, either about their mental illness or maybe they have had someone close to them take their own life. I would like for them to share when someone they cared about took their own life and how it affected them. Maybe by hearing the affects it has on the people who really care about them it will get a kid or teen contemplating taking their own life, to think twice about it. I would also like to get organization groups, professional therapist, or counselors on the show and talk about what their group does, what their profession is, or where kids and teens can go for help.
I think by giving these kids and teens a platform where they feel comfortable to talk, that this is a good place to start helping them with their everyday struggle with mental illness and don't know how to deal with it. I'm tired of hearing about kids and teens talking their own lives or even others as well, because of the issues they've dealt with everyday. I know I cant save every kid and teen out there, but if I can at least help save one and get others to think twice about taking their own life or others. I’ll know that this is what I’m suppose to be doing. Thank you and please share the Fighting Out Of The Darkness page. With friends, kids, family, or whomever needs someone to talk to.
I would like to say again that I AM IN NO WAY A PROFFESIONAL nor do I have a degree in mental illness, I personally deal with anxiety and depression like I said before. I just want to help kids and teens, understand that they are not alone in their fight.
