Hi!
I'm Daniela Halvorsen. A creative and passionate photographer, video creator and storyteller, with a keen eye for detail.
My portfolio ranges from commercial work to portraits. I have years of experience in product/commercial photography, portraits, events, lifestyle photography, weddings, families, new born, food, nature, anything and everything I find interesting. But let me tell you how it all started. First, sit back on your comfy chair, grab your favorite drink and relax while reading the text below.
Once upon a time there was a girl lost in this world, without a clue of what to do in life... All she knewn was that arts has always followed her around, since she was a tiny little human. But, only in 2008 her first steps were taken towards what truly became her passion, Photography. Before I got my first expensive compact camera, a friend of mine, Andre Nobre, introduced me to photography. We worked together at McDonald's and he had invited me for a portrait session where I was going to be a model. I was a teenager, still trying to find my place in the world, and I said yes to his invitation. We had such a great time together that eventually we took more photos. I’ve always looked up to him. He is super creative and talented. I knew I could learn a lot from him. At the time, he was finding his voice as a photographer, while I was trying to find my direction. Soon enough, other photographers found me and took photos of me too. But I figured that modeling wasn’t for me. I decided to switch roles and that’s when I became a photographer. Being a model first, gave me useful knowlegde on how to pose my own models. And so, I began to photograph friends in a discovery of what I liked and who I wanted to be. Before I actually started to photograph people, I photographed things that I find weird today, like doors, streets, cats, lamps. That’s when you know you are at a beginner level. I engaged on a photo club in my city and we had photography trips meant to learn from each other. At that time, I had dropped school. I didn’t like school. Too much theory and too little hands-on. Boring. I ended up investing a lot of hours in photography. I bought photography magazines, got in touch with other photographers, took photos, analysed other photographers work, etc. Learn, practise, repeat. I was eager to learn, and I did. I felt I had found my direction in terms of career choices. But I was still very uncertain about it and I honestly didn’t know what to do in life. Pessimistic comments such as: “You are not going to have a future as a photographer”, “There is no money in photography” - really made me doubt about my choices.
