I'm not always down with edits, as quite often it's simply adding a kick to an old disco or funk track & most of the time you'd be far better playing the original anyway. In this case, Crispin J Glover has used both the vibe of the original and beefed up the start & end of the track to make it mixable, creating something entirely new, plus it sounds superb! I'm a way that's similar to Mighty Dub Katz from the 90s, this refreshes the best part of a old tracks & breathes new life into it, which IMO is the idea of a re-edit, plus it's not an obvious track either, meaning it's a win-win!! In an ideal world, this would be picked up by a big label & given the full works (maybe it will!), in the meantime show some love via Bandcamp ✌🏼

Myself & Steve Lipscombe were at The 212 in Leeds on Sat, doing our Precinct DJs thing - you can check out almost the full 7 hour set here (15 mins taken off the start, as Soundcloud put a limit at 6 hours 45 mins...), so if you fancy a Monday night session, stick this on in a couple of hours & you'll be sorted through to midnight! There's a bit of everything in here - deep house, acid, funky stuff, breaky bits, garage, old late 80s techno, brand new 12"s - so we hope you dig it. New release up across the various digital stores now, a 6-track selection of tunes of mine that have been sounding all good at my gigs this year. Off to Leeds shortly to join Rich Carrick & Rayees for their "No Requests" party at The 212, but thought I'd just upload the next 3am Recordings digital EP (or possibly a mini-album?) to the label's Bandcamp page - 6 original tracks from my good self, ranging from dubby warm-up to tough tech-edged sounds so, hopefully, there's something for some of you on the release. Two gigs at The 212 this weekend - Sat night I'm joining the ace Rayees & Rich Carrick for their 'No Requests' party, that's from 7pm-2am & will be all things quality house, then Sunday it's another Headnodders Anonymous Unite session from 2pm-9pm, loads of dub, soul, funk, reggae, laid-back hip-hop & lazy vibes to round off the weekend. I'll be joined by Steve Lipscombe for this final Sunday summer bash for this year, which means lots of wonderful deepness ✌🏼 Hope to see you there x

Out today across all platforms, the excellent Msolnusic aka Mat McGovern brings us his 'Warm Feelings EP'. This has been on the 3am Recordings Bandcamp for a week or so, but you can now grab it at your fave digi store. Two choice original deep cuts from Mat, with a remix on each from Johannes Ortlieb who nudges the the tempo on "Warm" up a notch & adds some bumpy vibes, while on "Feelings" I keep it deep but add some bubbling acid lines as the track progresses. Huuugge thanks to Rory Flynn, Vacancy, Steve Lipscombe & Samantha Hoggard for being exceptional DJs at last night's 3am Recordings 21st bday bash at Distrikt last night. Just superb music all night long, proving (again) that the wealth of talent in Leeds among local-based DJs means you don't really need big-name headliners to bring an electric vibe. Thanks as ever to the staff at the bar, plus the dancers on the floor - was really great that there were lots specifically there for the event supporting the label, which really means a lot to me. Doing a label & its subsequent parties for 21 years is tough, anyone running a label for a long time will confirm that, so to still not only have people showing their support over & over, plus new younger faces discovering the label, continually gives me the encouragement to keep pushing on, even after two decades! ✌🏼 x

Got a two-track sampler up at the Call & Response Bandcamp page, ahead of my forthcoming album for the label, called "Fireplug" (more info on that to come in the next month or two). One track is a bassy clubby vibe called 'Hypnotube', the second is a warm deep cut, with some wriggly acid going on too, that one's called 'Gentle Persuasion'. Both have been sounding great at recent gigs, so it's a pleasure to make them available exclusively via the link below. Big up to Danny Gofton for getting me back onto his fine label & supporting me with the album idea, I'm really looking forward to that one coming out later in the year! :)

This is a mix of the downtempo/hip-hop/leftfield tracks I've done under the guise of Headnodders Anonymous Unite - these were previously only available via Bandcamp, but are now online at all the main sites incl. Beatport, Traxsource, Juno Download etc etc, so if you fancy something akin to Pete Rock & CL Smooth's instrumental stuff, or Rae & Christian, or you dig the output of labels like Cold Busted, then this may well be for you.
