Our Story
We help creative people bring their worthwhile stories to the World! Home Plate Entertainment was launched in 2010 by four-time Emmy® Award winning animation industry veteran Bill Schultz (The Simpsons, King of the Hill, Garfield & Friends, Ed, Edd & Eddy, Clifford the Big Red Dog, He Man Masters of the Universe, Hero 108). Headquartered in Los Angeles, Home Plate Entertainment is involved in a wide range of top level Production, IP Development, Financing, Exec Producing, and Distribution services, maintaining partnerships with a blue chip group of global Co-Producers, Broadcasters, and Creators. In August 2017 Netflix launched (21 languages) HPE’s groundbreaking Netflix Original "True and the Rainbow Kingdom", Co-created by HPE founder Bill Schultz & FriendsWithYou & Jeff Borkin (Blaze&MightyMachines-Nick Jr)), and maticulously developed and produced in partnership with Guru Studios (Paw Patrol) in Toronto. The series colorfully and imaginatively brings mindfulness to the fore for a young pre-school generation of viewers. Based on FWY’s globally beloved creative, it has been announced that the series has been picked up by Netflix for a 3rd season. In addition to Guru Studios and HPE, the show is also Executive Produced by musical media empressario Pharrell Williams and his iamOther company.
Also in 2018 the Animated Feature film “A Wizard’s Tale” (aka Here Comes The Grump) starring Lily Collins, Toby Kebell and Ian McShane, the film was financed and co-produced by Anima Estudios, the largest animation studio in Mexico and Bill’s long time collaborators, and worldwide publically traded top CG/VFX giant Prime Focus World (Lego) is being sold (GFM Films, Duck Duck Goose) and launched theatrically worldwide, including the US. Producing for Prime Focus World, Bill brought the two companies together and was a Producer on the film.
Today, Bill is producing an exciting slate of animated feature films with global leading studio Prime Focus, children's series, including NBC’s Today Show 22 year veteran host Al Roker’s company Al Roker Entertainment, and Adult animation with Mondo Media Inc. for their new VRV (AT&T/Crunchyroll) SVOD platform. The Studio's first release, "Wild Grinders", was a 52 half hour animated TV series based on pro-skateboarder-turned MTV Personality, Rob Dyrdek's younger years as a skateboarder. Wild Grinders premiered in the US, on Nicktoons. Rob's other shows, "Rob Dyrdek's Fantasy Factory" & "Ridiculousness" can both be seen on MTV, along with reruns of his first MTV series, "Rob and Big" Also developed and produced was "Teenage Fairytale Dropouts", a 26 half hour animated comedy that features a trio of teenage friends who live in the mythical land of Fairytale Estates and attend Fairytale Estates Highschool. Their bond and much humor is in part due to the fact that the trio struggles to find their own individuality while living in the shadows of their famous fairytale parents. The show is a Co-production with Mexico's Anima Estudios, Sydney-based SLR Productions and Irish producer Telegael. The series aired on Hasbro/Discovery's HUB channel. In keeping with Bill's unique and ever changing vision, the HPE has established itself as a premiere boutique animation indy - following in the path defined by studio founder Bill Schultz's track record and career.
