The Chinese translator will be responsible for facilitating effective communication between individuals and organizations that speak different languages, specifically between Chinese and another target language. The role involves converting written or spoken material from one language to another, ensuring that the meaning and intent of the original message are accurately conveyed
Duties and Responsibilities:
 Interpret mostly verbal Chinese. Therefore, must be quick in understanding and speaking Chinese
 Act as a link between the Chinese and locals
 Site supervision
 Fluent in English and Chinese. Able to translate accurately and clearly
 Provide Chinese support services, including transcription, and translation / interpretation
 Provide any and all cultural and ethnic context of translations, interpretations, and transcriptions
 Follow up on important projects. Support and facilitate the completion of regular reports
 Perform document scan, research, and analyze foreign language documents and intercepted data for key information
 Maintain effective daily operations and make suggestions for process improvements when necessary
 Able to work longer hours (over time) which will be added to your salary
Education & Experience
 Grade 12 certificate.
 1+ years as a Chinese interpreter.
 Excellent interpretation and translation skills.
 Must have studied Chinese Language.
 Proficient in computer skills.
 Fluent in both Chinese and English Language.
 Flexible and willing to undertake other duties.
 Good Time Management.

Fuel Shortage Looming

3,500 fuel tankers destined to Zambia stranded in Zimbabwe

In a Public Notice 60 of 2024 issued on Friday, 9 August 2024, the Zimbabwe Revenue Authority (ZIMRA) announced that fuel tankers carrying product across the border using Zimbabwe as a transit country, would be required to pay full duty and levies and be refunded on confirmed exit out of Zimbabwe.

This move was brought about by Finance Minister Mthuli Ncube in his Mid-Term Budget Review.

He lamented the increased incidents of fuel transit fraud.

He stated: “Currently, consignments for traffic in transit are secured by Transit Bonds guaranteed by Insurance Companies and/or Banks.

In addition, high penalties for violating the legislation have been adopted."

As a result, over 3,500 fuel tankers scheduled to transport the commodity into Zambia are grounded in Zimbabwe due to this policy changes resulting in the introduction of an exorbitant transit tax.

According to the new policies, fuel tankers passing through Zimbabwe are required to pay US$21,500 per truck upon entry and be refunded upon exit, which has led to drivers shunning the route.

Most drivers have complained of delays by Zimbabwean authorities to refund them upon exit, which usually takes several days.

During an Energy Regulation Board (ERB) and Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs) joint media briefing yesterday, Puma Energy Zambia head of government relations Litiya Matakala said the unavailability of the Zimbabwean trucks has posed a huge challenge on their operations as it entails that Zambian trucks have to cover up for the loss alone.

Mr Matakala said Zambian trucks are also supplying the commodity to Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) in the absence of Zimbabwean tankers.

“This is a very constrained situation,” he said. “OMCs will manage it as it is a short-term challenge. When you look at Zambia being landlinked, we depend so much on Zimbabwe because when you pick a product from Beira in Mozambique, the shortest route is passing through Zimbabwe and then Chirundu, all the way up to Lusaka.

We need to.urgently re-think the port of entry and may have to revert to Dar-es-Salaam, and Durban.
