Good morning everyone. ❤️
I'm back with our devotionals again today! I apologize for slacking on them for the last week and half. I have been moving all over the metro area here in Colorado, planning and hosting birthday parties, fathers day, and a girls brunch last weekend, and things have been pretty hectic.
However there's no excuse for not prioritizing God more and ensuring you all receive the good word so for that I sincerely apologize.
I hope everyone had a great weekend and a beautiful and blessed Father's day with the special dads in your lives.
Without further ado let's get into this morning's devotional.....
"Thou shalt not avenge, nor bear any grudge against the children of thy people, but thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself: I am the LORD."
Leviticus 19:18 (NIV)
Reflection:
This verse from Leviticus reminds us that in life people will trespass against us, disappoint us, anger us, just as we have done in front of God when we sin, but it's important to live in the spirit of love, grace, and forgiveness and to let go of anger, hurt, resentment, and disappointment in order to honor the sacrifice of our Lord and Savior, Christ Jesus of Nazareth, by forgiving and loving others, the way he loved and forgave us. There is no better way to honor both yourself and Jesus than by forgiving, letting things go, and loving people despite their side steps.
Sometimes it may be best to love and forgive silently and from a distance and to stay away from people who may cause you pain especially intentionally, but at the end of the day for Lord's peace and yours, forgiveness, love, and grace are the best option. In a world that can be so thankless and unforgiving, be sure not to rob yourself or others of the light of God and the lightness of Jesus. Allow yourself the blessing of peace.
Reflection Questions:
1. Is there anyone you resent or any resentment you're holding onto right now that you'd like to let go of?
2. How can you show more love to those around you every day?
3. In what ways can you practice forgiving those who have wronged you?
Prayer:
Lord Jesus help us to be more like you. Please enter our hearts and evict the spirits of resentment, anger, and disappointment, and replace them with feelings of compassion, grace, mercy, forgiveness, and love. Help us to forgive the folks we have the hardest time forgiving because of the love of God thats within us. Please help us to forgive what may seem "unforgivable" and remember the sacrifice of Jesus. Please relieve of us of the heaviness we feel and to let go of the need to obtain the well deserved apologies we have and may never get. God Help us to let go of all of the dead weight that plagues our hearts and anchors us to our pain so that we can be full of your light and display your love for your children through ourselves. Let us never forget in the midst of chaos to take a moment to focus, recollect, and remember the sacrifice of Jesus. In Jesus and God's mighty and precious names we pray, Amen.
Closing Thought:
I pray we are all able to continue forth with our day with a new feeling of lightness or at the very least some perspective and a plan on how we might go about forgiving and letting go and instead living in love and the lightness of the Lord. Let the chains be broken.
Have a wonderful day everyone.
