We're sad to report that a specialized fitting on the new ARC Park Splash Pad filter system broke today. 😞 The splash pad is closed until we get a replacement part from the filter manufacturer. Please hang tight. It will be back up and running as soon as possible just in time for warmer weather!

We are currently accepting applications for our 2022-2023 Sheridan County Community Foundation Youth Ambassador Program Board Member!

The Sheridan County Community Foundation views our area youth as the leaders of tomorrow and is dedicated to learning more about their needs, wants, and desires to make well-informed decisions for the betterment of all - now and in the future. To that end, SCCF has added a special position to its board of directors exclusively for high school students to serve and provide insight and guidance from the youth perspective.

Applicant must be a current high school sophomore or junior in good academic standing attending school within Sheridan County, Kansas.

The Youth Ambassador Board Member(s) will begin serving their one-year term in June immediately following the conclusion of their sophomore/junior year, ending in May the following year.

Junior-aged students may have the option for an additional 1-year term.

🚧 I-70 BRIDGE REPAIRS: KDOT has started bridge repair work on 3 bridges on I-70 in Ellis County near Yocemento. Traffic is reduced to one lane through the work zones with a decreased speed limit of 60 mph. Work is expected to be completed in mid-July, weather permitting.

Developmental Services of Northwest Kansas is proud to announce that The United Way of Ellis County has allocated $25,600 for the Job Placement Follow-along program for 2022. Follow-along services are provided to all individuals who complete DSNWK's Job Placement Program for support to maintain employment, and for additional training in the future. DSNWK’s Job Placement Follow-along program can intervene before the individual loses his or her employment, and reduces the dollars spent on job procurement, training new employees, and unemployment or disability payments.

ACCESS Public Transportation was informed by the CARE Council of Ellis County that they have recommended an allocation to the Hays City Commission for an award of $77,732.50 for transportation services from the City of Hays Social Service Funds for the 2022 budget. ACCESS provides general public transportation services to the people of Hays and Ellis County.

DSNWK would like to thank the United Way of Ellis County for their continuous support of people with developmental disabilities and to the CARE Council for recommending an allocation to the City of Hays for ACCESS general public transportation. DSNWK would also like to thank all those in the Ellis County community who supported the United Way with their contributions during their annual campaign.

Due to high winds and a semi being blown over, I-70 eastbound is shutdown between exit 70 to exit 76. Traffic is being routed to US 83 south to US 40, then back to I-70 eastbound at the 76 milepost for an unknown amount of time. Be mindful of the weather if you're traveling through NW Kansas tonight.

Each August the Backpacks For Kids program provides Ellis County children and youth a new backpack filled with school supplies and personal hygiene items. Ellis County students in grades Pre-K thru High School whose families have financial hardships are eligible. Registration opens May 1st. Our back...

We are excited to announce that we will be partnering with North Central Kansas Technical College as well as Hays High School to bring a Welding Program into the high school. Leo Dreiling, Certified Welding Instructor, at Hess Services, will teach both at HHS and at Ellis High School. Dreiling has taught a successful program at EHS for the last year. This announcement was made at tonight’s USD #489 Board Meeting by NCKTC President Eric Burks. Offering these classroom opportunities to students is something that Hess Services greatly values and of course we hope some of these students come to work for us in the future! We look forward to being a part of these great partnerships!!
