The March Courier is finally out! The last big storm, multiple cancellations, and a glitch at the printers delayed production, but thanks to editor Marcy for persevering, and to a small group of Moonshiners who stuffed, folded, and stapled them on kitchen tables, The Courier went out on March 4th, and is also online at Camptonville.net. Enjoy the gorgeous yellow spring cover, and read of all the upcoming events, bits of local history, and more. Submission deadline for the April issue is March 18th. Send to [email protected].

What opens your heart and brings you joy?

February is the month we think about LOVE, so for the February Courier, I’d like to share Pictures/Photos/Words of what spontaneously brings you joy and open heartedness.

For me, it’s playing with my dog. I belly laugh, forget my adult self, and feel so joyful and playful. Or sometimes Nature surprises me with a sunset or a sweet birdsong that fills me with joy.

I’ll submit a photo of my dog. How about you?

Please send your photo, picture, or a few words by January 18th if you can. I’ll accept late submissions if I have room. Email to: [email protected]

Thank you!
Shirley DicKard
February Editor

INSERTS (aka D***s)
As a community service, we include pre-printed Inserts (8.5" x 11")
Free to local non-profit organizations and $35/issue for others.
You must provide your own Inserts (approximately 425)
and send someone to help us with the folding and mailing at the end of the month.
To request your insert be included, please contact The Courier no later than the 18th of the month at [email protected]. Because we are limited in how many inserts we can include, acceptance is up to the Editor, and preference given to Camptonville-based events. To include more inserts, we may request you arrange with another event organizer to print back-to-back or share a half page. Thank you for making it easier for us to support your good work!
In addition, we suggest you also put an article in the Courier so that your event is documented as part of our community archives (d***s are not archived).

If you’ve seen the paper August Courier with the gorgeous color covers of Bullards Bar Reservoir and a bear cooling off in the Yuba River, you know that we’ve decided to take a leap and try printing just the outside cover in color. The February “Snow Storm” Issue is now posted online at www.camptonville.net. (https://storage.googleapis.com/ccp-courier/currentissue.pdf ) So many people contributed stories, poems, and photographs to document the December 27, 2021 snowstorm that closed Camptonville and surrounding Sierra Nevada for days, weeks even. There’s also pages of hearty thank you to the folks who jumped in and helped out – from neighbors, businesses, agencies, non-profits.
If you’re interested in getting Life Flight Insurance for emergencies when the fastest way to get medical help is to be air-lifted out, Page 15 has all the details.

Hey Camptonville folks,
The Camptonville Courier wants to document the snow storm/power outages in the February Courier so if you can, please help out by sending any of the following to: [email protected]
*** Deadline for submissions is Tuesday, JANUARY 18th, 9 pm.***
1. Send your PHOTOS of the big snow and power outage. I'll use as many as I can. I'm especially looking for any photos of Cleveland Avenue looking uphill toward the Community Center. We have a photo of an historical snowstorm that I'd like to pair with this recent one.
2. Do you have a STORY to tell about the storm? Please send it in, and if you'd like, we can help put it together into an article. 300 words max. Please read the Courier Editorial Guidelines for appropriate content and tone (https://storage.googleapis.com/.../Editorial%20Guidelines...
)
3. How would you ANSWER this QUESTION?: "If you heard there will be another massive snowstorm in two days, what are 2-3 things you will do differently this time?"
If you'd like a monthly email notification when Courier articles are due, please send your name/email to: [email protected] (Thanks to Mary Yager for this photo)
Thank you! Shirley -the February Editor
