New ‘Alien Romulus’ trailer dropped today. We’re pretty big Alvarez fans here at Cinematic Sufgering, so we’re both excited for this one.
The on-the-nose homage to the classic scene in ‘Alien 3’ is a bit annoying, but the trailer looks pretty killer. What do y’all think? ~ Clay
“Alien: Romulus” takes the phenomenally successful “Alien” franchise back to its roots: While scavenging the deep ends of a derelict space station, a group o...

What’s your favorite horror film directed by a woman?
One of ourfavorites is Revenge (2017) directed by Coralie Fargeat. Think “I Spit on Your Grave” and “Last House on the Left”. Super, hyper violent with tons of blood and crazy moments.

We took a look at 2020’s slasher “GetAWAY” which shouldn’t be confused with the other 2020 horror movie “Getaway” or the other dozen movies with the same title over the years.

Bits & Chunks is just a simple podcast where we talk about what we want to talk about and frequently go on lost tangents so... yeah.
In this episode we discuss some pretty cool horror films we've watched over the past few weeks to include Talk to Me, When Evil Lurks, and Totally Killer. We also talk about horror rules and world building. When a killer has no rules and can do anything, is it fun or boring (case in point Art the Clown from Terrifier)?
Cinematic Suffering is the unfortunate responsibility of Jason Thomas and Clay Henss. All movies are the property of their respective copyright holders. All jokes are meant to be satire and parody. We encourage you to purchase or watch these films on whatever streaming, physical media platform is available.
Grab your scuba tanks, flippers and wet suits, and join the ‘Cinematic Suffering’ crew for our in-depth (h’yuck) exploration of ‘47 Meters Down.’ Glub glub!

The brilliance of the ‘Thanksgiving’ trailer are the images that are inconsequential to those who don’t know what they’re about to see in subsequent scenes.
A guy at a parade, wearing a big ‘ole turkey head? A cheerleader bouncing on a trampoline?
Looking forward to this one!

Saw ‘Last Voyage of the Demeter’ this weekend. There aren’t any big surprises and the film limps a bit in the third act, but it’s still a worthwhile monster flick. ~ Clay

The Beginning...
It started as an innocent idea sparked from boredom way back in 1996 through 1997. The Internet was still in its relative infancy so going “online” for entertainment wasn’t really a thing back then. So my friends and I would often go to Blockbuster video and rent movies. Eventually the new releases were no longer drawing us in and I mentioned casually, “Why don’t we go through Blockbuster’s horror selection and rent every film they have there starting at the beginning of the section?” We were all huge horror fiends and my friends enthusiastically said, “Yeah! That’s a great idea, Jason!” Famous last words. We started with 4 guys (me included). By the time I rented the last film that started with the letter “Z”, I was the last man standing from the group. The suffering endured was legendary.
Fast forward over 20 years later and I found myself once again contemplating this challenge. With Blockbuster and other big store video chains now a relic of the past, I often scrolled through Netflix’s horror collection looking for something of interest. Sometimes I’d hit gold but more often than not I would be squirming in frustration as I struggled to get through a bad horror movie. I told my wife about the original Blockbuster challenge and how I was thinking about doing the same with Netflix. While she supported me 100% in my endeavor, she wouldn’t be joining the challenge. She’s much smarter than me obviously.
So instead of doing this by myself, I hit up my old friend Clay. We were friends in high school and have kept in touch throughout the years. I felt that if anyone would accompany me on this journey of cinematic suffering, then he would! He was the first person to pop up in my head because his sense of humor, biting opinions, and love for the weird are all traits needed to endure what we were about to embark on.
In addition to asking my good friend to join up on this insane journey, I figured why not make a podcast about it? Clay and I shouldn’t have to suffer in silence when we can share the misery (or the rare elation) of our viewing experiences to the world!
So we bring you Cinematic Suffering. We hope you will join us as well as we watch every Netflix horror film from A through Z.
