We should ask the delegation from WMO at to explain why the is claiming on its website that the global mean temperature in 2022 was about 1.15⁰C above the 1850-1900 average.
This is an exaggeration of between 22 and 38 percent.
The WMO should confirm that they used a thirty-year period to make the measurement as they claim on the website. This is the standard.
Or did WMO use a 10-year period to exaggerate and thus misinform the delegates and decision makers at COP28?
