Who else loves the slightly slower pace of life that you naturally embrace when growing food? It's genuinely something I have come to love this year, growing salad herbs, and vegetable plants and adding a bee buffet planter to this front garden.
Have you added a 'Bee Buffet' to your growing space this year? This has been genuinely one of my favourite elements within my growing space this year.
Who else agrees that growing food is sometimes the perfect remedy for modern life? The ever-quickening pace of life, the dopamine rush of social media and retail seems paused when I spend time in this garden.
This is the ultimate act of optimism - who else agrees?
Do you feel that there is a constant atmosphere of crisis at the moment? I do, sometimes. It's ok, we are going to do what human beings have always done - grow food. It certainly makes me feel better!
*Herbs to sow NOW in Autumn* Delicious edible crops to sow and plant now for autumn.
Disclaimer: I don’t think many of you will see this! Instgram favours very short videos - 5-8 seconds so this video of around 8 minutes will test this!
Have you grown Hot N Spicy Oregano? It's one of my absolute favorites. Hardy, evergreen and DELICIOUS!
THE most productive plant in our edible garden so far this year? Salad Burnet. Have you grown this plant before?
Who else agrees with me? I wanted to explain why I care so much about this, why I post these videos after doing a hard day's work doing my 'day job' running Urban Herbs. This issue really matters to me.
What should you grow to save yourself money?
Feeling slightly emotional this evening, as I head into the final week of Urban Herbs season.
It’s been the most exciting season so far, certainly the busiest but with some challenges behind the scenes too.
I genuinely love my job and love sharing it with all of you.
I guess I just wanted to say, thank you.
Sorry if this sounds really big headed. Just had a really proud moment….. thanks for your support everyone
Quite simply… thank you. Your support is never taken for granted.
I’ve come to love the changing seasons, the constant change and renewal.
Growth rates in my small front garden food growing project have been phenomenal over the last few weeks. The salad herbs of rocket, salad burnet and celery leaf have BOOMED.
The peas and Beans have finally come to and end and it was time to remove them and clear space for winter crops.
I’ll be taking about them in part two - or skip straight to my YouTube channel ‘Urban Herbs’ for more info.
I just posted a new video to Urban Herbs YouTube talking about plants that you can grow NOW during October. Did you know that I host a YouTube channel? Drop me a comment below and let me know 😀
Does this give anyone else SO much positive energy? Challenging few days here and just a few minutes outside recharged myself and katharinelperry SO much. This is the incredible power of growing.
Drop me a comment below if you would like a link to the full video guide to this project 😀🪴

Everything that’s happened this year started in the tiny front garden of the former council house where we live.
Some of you will know that for the last few months I’ve been working with my wife to record a brand new podcast. We wanted to tell the story of our own, down to earth and honest perspective of growing.
Please check out the growing up podcast or drop me a comment below for the direct link.
Thanks so much for your support
DIY Greenhouse or Polytunnel door.
I completed this project with minimal DIY expertise, but it was a really fun project to do on an autumnal garden day.
If anyone has any questions about this project or polytonal growing in general, please drop them in the comment section below
This was my front garden food growing space at its most productive. Cropping Salad herbs, spinach and beans daily for our meals.
This was just a normal day in June and I am so happy to share it with you.
What’s been your most productive crops this year?
