Here's the latest info on shooting off fireworks from the Pennington County Sheriff's office:

The window for the legal discharge of fireworks is June 27, TODAY, through the Sunday following July 4th. This year that means you can set off fireworks until July 10.

PROHIBITED: No fireworks are allowed in Black Hills Fire Protection District. Fireworks are prohibited within Rapid City, Hill City, Keystone and Wall city limits, other than novelty fireworks. Novelty fireworks are party poppers, snappers, sparklers, and toy caps. New Underwood does allow fireworks in city limits.

The big area where many people set off fireworks in this area is Rapid Valley. We ask people to adhere to an 11pm fireworks curfew and we ask individuals to clean up after themselves. Fireworks leave a lot of trash!

PENALTY: The illegal use of fireworks is an offense punishable by a fine of up to $500, 30 days in jail, or both. Pennington County deputies are planning to have an increased evening presence in areas within the one-mile radius of the city limits of Rapid City, including portions of Rapid Valley. Citations may be issued after 11 pm or any time of day when someone is reckless or negligent with fireworks.

Fireworks are dangerous and the cause of fires and injuries. Be responsible. Don’t set off fireworks in restricted areas. Don’t point fireworks at people. Have adult supervision and a water source in case you start a fire.
