Boathouse is a culture magazine. We call it a magazine, even though it is all online because it functions as such: publishing engaging editorial daily. We provide our community with passionate, trustworthy, and informed points of view on a variety of topics that are locally focused: arts, culture, food and drink, music, politics, and more. Our writers are a stable of community contributors that range widely in age and background due to the transient university population — from college undergrads to seventy-somethings, the magazine is comprised of engaged community members with an impressive array of experiences to draw from. The Boathouse enters its 4th year of publishing in 2022, and certainly, we’ve developed a particular aesthetic and personality over time. Our founding principle is this: The Boathouse exists as a platform for you, the reader, to engage with and shape if you’re interested in that. We welcome contributions and want you to be involved. Follow us across our social media pages to provide commentary where you see fit. Publisher

No Bake Turtle Mini Cheesecakes are easy creamy mini cheesecakes topped with gooey chewy caramel, melt-in-your-mouth chocolate, and crunchy pecans all throughout.
Ingredients
1 cup graham crackers ground
1 tbsp sugar
5 tbsp butter melted
8 oz cream cheese softened
1/2 cup powdered sugar
2 tsp vanilla extract
1 cup heavy whipping cream
Caramel Sauce or homemade(recipe bellow)
6 oz semi-sweet chocolate chopped
1/4 cup heavy cream
Instructions
Prepare 12 baking cups or panettone baking cups (I used 2 3/8 x 2 Inch ) or mini springform pan.
In a medium bowl, combine the graham cracker crumbs and melted butter. Stir until well combined. Press evenly in the paper cups with shot glass, to make a firm layer. Chill in the fridge whilst you do the rest!
Meanwhile, whisk the Cream Cheese and powdered sugar and vanilla with an electric mixer until combined.
Pour in the heavy cream and continue to mix until it is starting to thicken a lot like a Mousse does! Top the crusts with 4-5 table

The Story Behind Illinois' Most Haunted House Will Give You Nightmares
The McPike Mansion has been called one of the scariest structures in the United States and it definitely ranks as one of the most haunted houses in Illinois. Originally built in 1869 by Henry Guest McPike, it is located in Alton, Illinois (a town with a haunted history in itself). When you look over the McPike Mansion’s history, you’ll quickly learn it has repeatedly been the center of paranormal investigations. According to the owner, two ghosts haunt this property: former owner Paul Leichner and a former domestic servant named Sarah Wells. Flashlights will die out unexpectedly and lights will flicker. There is a strong smell of lilac in the attic, which is the kind of perfume Wells used to wear. What is really creepy is how things look in photos. You might see figures or orbs of light in photos that were definitely NOT in the shot.
The structure is on the National Register of Historic Places. It stayed abandoned for quite a while before being purchased. It would have been restored and converted into a hotel, but it was not eligible for grant money despite prior assurances. Nevertheless, you can visit and go on a tour of the haunted McPike Mansion in Illinois. There are also annual campouts held in the McPike Mansion
