During sleep, your body is working to support healthy brain function and maintain your physical health. Sleep also helps support growth and development. Getting enough sleep over time can reduce your risk for chronic (long-term) health problems.
Without sleep you can’t form or maintain the pathways in your brain that let you learn and create new memories, and it’s harder to concentrate and respond quickly.
