The Swiss parliament considers snubbing the ruling of the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) in the case of v. Switzerland

The lower house of the Swiss parliament voted on Wednesday to reject a ruling ordering Switzerland to do more to combat global warming in a move that could encourage others to resist the influence of international courts.

Known for his personal integrity and his courage, Dick Marty was a dedicated fighter for human rights, democracy and the rule of law in Switzerland and in the Council of Europe. He will be missed at home and abroad.

Former Swiss senator and prosecutor Dick Marty died on Thursday aged 78, his party confirmed.
