Have you ever considered the reverse role of training our dogs? Random Friday thoughts

We often think about how training provides cognitive stimulation for our pets, but what about the benefits we gain?

For me, interacting with my dog is a two-way street that keeps my brain sharp. When we play games or work on new tricks together, I’m not just teaching him—I’m engaging my own memory, problem-solving skills, and learning capacity. Have you noticed how mentally stimulating it is to figure out the best way to teach your dog a new trick? How about the focus required to keep both of you on track during a training session?

It’s fascinating how much cognitive exercise we get just by spending quality time with our furry friends.

Have you ever found yourself traveling and all you can think about is your child? People often talk about pet separation anxiety, but what about our own parental anxiety? This is my first time being away from my child for a whole week. Initially, I didn’t think much of it because I knew I had to attend this work conference. I usually bring him with me on vacations, capturing beautiful moments together like the picture above, but this time it’s different—it’s work.

However, focusing on the conference has been really difficult. I keep wondering how he’s doing, especially since we had to board him because we don’t have family nearby. The depth of my anxiety took me by surprise. If I had known, I would have tried to prepare myself mentally before the trip.

How about you? Have you ever felt this kind of anxiety? How did you cope?

Hey everyone! Guess what? I’m off on another exciting adventure in beautiful Tahoe, California! This time, I’m lucky enough to explore it with my amazing grandpa, who flew all the way from Boston, where my dad grew up. He’s never seen Tahoe before!
