I was lost Think of a career, yeah, I had already considered doing that. And yet at the same time I despised the idea of going to college, always had. I ended up getting an associates in English but after that I called it quits. During the pandemic I badly needed a job and that’s when someone finally called me and hired me at Starbucks. After meeting everyone I actually really liked the place and considered moving up, so I did. I was excited for my new role for about a few weeks but things started moving downhill after that. It didn’t sit right with me how utterly exhausted the higher ups always looked. I thought “so that’s what I’m going to be if I keep moving up huh.” It was the very last thing I wanted. Overtime is cruel. Now I will say, it was my decision to work that much but I had wanted to go to Las Vegas for my 21st since I was 18, I wanted that trip so bad I was willing to do anything to make it happen. I still remember being emotionally, mentally and physically exhausted after every shift as each day passed, there were some nights where I broke down crying because I was so worn out. Even so, I don’t believe people should have to work so hard just to afford to do the things they desire, that’s the cruel part. Patience is key. You can’t expect to get the best view on a mountain within a few hours. Scaling a business is the same, it takes time and careful thought.
