When creating Instagram stories as a realtor, it’s important to have a strategy that keeps it consistent so you can create engaging stories every time that appeal to your audience.

Here are my top 5 tips for the perfect IG + FB story:

1. Brand Recognition with Colour
Incorporate your brand colours into text overlays to enhance brand recognition.
Remember, consistency in visual elements will help viewers to associate your Instagram stories with your real estate brand.

2. Optimal Aspect Ratio (16:9)
Use the 16:9 aspect ratio on your iPhone camera (1080 pixels wide by 1920 pixels tall) when creating Stories for a more engaging and visually appealing experience on mobile devices.
This format takes up more screen space and showcases your content effectively.

3. Better Video Production
Make sure to film videos using your phone’s camera app rather than directly in the Instagram app for better control over lighting, framing, stability and overall video quality.

4. Keep Stories Concise
Maintain viewer engagement by keeping each Instagram Story clip under 15 seconds and the entire Story under 1 minute. Concise clips ensure that your content remains dynamic and holds viewers' attention throughout the sequence.

Mid-August sure feels like the “Sunday of Summer,” especially on a day like today. 🌧️ I’ve been curled up binge-watching The Handmaid’s Tale. As a woman, this show reminds me of the resilience, the fight for autonomy, and the quiet courage it takes to stand up against what feels impossible. It’s a reminder of how easily fear can control us, but also how empowering it is to confront that fear and reclaim our power.

Yesterday evening, I went for a walk in Pitt Meadows, and unexpectedly encountered a bear. If you know me, you know this is a moment I’ve always dreaded, but when it actually happened, it wasn’t as bad as I’d imagined. In fact, it was almost empowering to realize I could handle it.

Fears, big or small hold us back from so many things. And for many in my world something as “small” showing up on social media. Whether as women or business owners, we often let the fear of judgment, failure, or simply being seen keep us in the shadows.

Fear can be a powerful force. It’s what keeps us safe in dangerous situations, but it can also keep us from growing, from taking risks, and from jumping into the next level. On social media, fear might make us hesitate to post, to share our thoughts, or to put our business out there. We worry about what we are sharing, how we’ll be perceived, whether we’ll succeed, or if anyone will even care (and this may all be subconsious).

Once we confront our fears, they lose their power over us. The fear of being judged or failing becomes less intimidating when we realize that the rewards—confidence, connection, growth—far outweigh the risks.

As we approach the final months of 2024, it’s the perfect time to face those fears head-on. If you’ve been hesitating to show up, to share your story, or to strategize your business’s social media presence, now’s the moment. It’s a no-brainer that the more you chat with new followers, the more you build a connection.

Whenever you gain a new follower, take a moment to reach out and say hello.

This simple gesture helps build an initial relationship and enhances the visibility of your content in their feed. Instagram's algorithm recognizes the interaction between the two pages and is more likely to prioritize showing your content to the new follower.

Try highlighting the transformations you've achieved by creating a powerful montage of your clients sharing their testimonials on camera.

Not only does video content capture viewers quicker and easier but a video montage will be great for customers who don’t know who you are yet (your cold audience. 🥶)

By looping various customer testimonials together in one video, you create the perfect advertisement of you.

What are my top tips? Add your branding at the end to ensure you stick in the memory of viewers, as well as adding strong text hooks throughout the video!

This week, I had a check in and strategy meeting with one of my longest-standing clients. We have produced thousands of posts, gained millions of views and have celebrated highest sales days ever.

Over the years, we have pivoted and adjusted our social media video strategy based on current trends and what resonates best with our audience.

🚜 I grew up on a farm in Langley with 4 siblings (I’m the oldest sister) and twin cousins next door to us. We have lots of fond memories building forts, playing kick the can & going for evening bike rides.

📈I spent several years marketing for several multi million dollar companies before fully diving in to Jenny Merk Social Media Marketing.

📍I currently live in Langley with my dog Cooper, I adopted him at 1 year old he is a lab x retriever x collie mix.

🤳I love working from home & being on location with clients for VIP content days. In the spring and summer any chance I get to work outside while getting some sunshine is my favourite.

📺 I recently found “Charmed” on Amazon Prime & am obsessed. I’m a sucker for 90s / early 2000s feel good family series (don’t get me started on “Six Feet Under”). They just take me back to the good old days.

🤓 I have a certificate in Digital Marketing, mentorship with some of my fave coaches and colleagues in the industry each year (and continue to) and am certified in Meta Ads too. I never stop learning (which is funny because when I was younger I hated school).

🚗 I love going on road trips in my Tesla (because duh Cooper needs to come along - dog mode is a life saver). Last Christmas I drove down to California & this summer I’ve been doing the stunning drive to from Vancouver to Calgary (where 2 of my siblings have moved to).
