Stereocure is an independent record label and collective of musicians, writers, and artists dedicated to a vision of contemporary music culture that is inspired by a progressive and creative spirit. . The Stereocure collective was founded by a group of childhood friends from Los Angeles, California who have developed a network of like-minded collaborators including musicians, bloggers, writers, vi
sual artists, and managers that spans from the west to the east coast. We believe in experimentation and progress, that’s why we provide an alternative space for artists ithat celebrates creativity and community. Stereocure creates an “alternative space” for artitists in several ways: our community is a think tank for musical development and collaboration; we have an online space for creative content to be shared; we release digital music on our label; and we connect our artists with venues, bookings, visual artists, and physical-release labels that will support their music. Our goal is to provide a hands-off creative environment with hands-on support. Stereocure is unique not only because of its multi-functionality, but also because our approach to musical consciousness is not confined to any genre. We are deep believers in the idea that the spirit of great music unfolds across infinite histories, traditions, sounds, and ways of thinking about art (we would like to think that Beethoven would appreciate the music of Outkast, Mozart would listen to the Beach Boys, etc). Our open-mindedness to music values musicianship over commercial potential, experimentation over imitation, and the bringing together of disparate traditions, sounds, and ideas. Stereocure applies a progressive-experimental mindset to the production and dissemination of music in addition to the music itself. As music corporations and institutions try to force new technologies and ideas to fit old models, people’s faith in the music industry wanes, and the artists suffer. We are responding to our belief that ways of sharing music need to be better fitted to the new media environment, in which the dialogue between musician and listener has never been more open. Stereocure is committed to working with all members of our community to find a more viable model for creating and sharing music and art. Above all, Stereocure is a family. Our mission is to be a truly collective atmosphere, in which every involved member is engaged and supportive. There will always be an open exchange of music and ideas within the Stereocure family, and there is no restriction on what an artist wants to do with his or her music. What we want is a music culture that is more collaborative and sympathetic to the dedication of our artists, and we believe that with the help of a community that shares one vision, we can work towards this shared goal together.
