Death takes no holiday.

I was working in front of a popular hotel today. That's when I heard a horrible crash of metal and a woman screaming. I turned around and watched a fully loaded 16-person carriage, like the photo below, drive over a woman on a bicycle and drag her, before stopping to a halt.

I noticed her body lying at an abnormal angle, as an ambulance medical team lifted her into the vehicle. The carriage driver was in tears.

I needed to know she was okay and asked my sister to tell me if she was recovering. A few hours later my sister relayed news about her to me.

She died in the hospital. The blunt force trauma to her head was too much.

I spent many times with death, and near death. But each horrific moment plays like an endlessly looping movie reel in my head.

And now this. A woman who was having a joyful moment in her life, and it got canceled so hard, that terrible moment has left me shaking and hyperventilating.

To the carriage driver. It's not your fault. It's so hard to control that much horse and carriage power. One day I hope you will see, it's not your fault.
