The second Hawaiian King visited England with his wives and several relatives. The Brits were impressed — he was a strapping lad, tall, well-proportioned and intelligent. There was a problem within the Hawaiian royals, however. A problem that would eventually doom them… virtually all royal marriages remained childless. Those that did produce children, produced children who later had no children of their own. One or two Kings had a singe extramarital child. But none were particularly fertile.

Despite having dozens of children, the official bloodline of King Kamehameha I died out within a century. Illegitimate lines remain, but the official male line perished. This is the fate of most in**ed royal families — they die out. Usually not as sudden as the Hawaiians did, but usually within a century or two of consistent inbreeding, things go South. More distant relatives from healthier branches have to be brought in to continue the lineage, as happened with the Habsburgs and all other royal in**ed lines.

Who was the most in**ed king?
Sure I could bore you with yet another answer of the Habsburgs, but lets look at an incestuous royal family not often discussed… the Hawaiian Royal Family. King Kamehahema I was the first of his line, the great founder. Now he was a powerful, robust man and very healthy. The King had thirty wives and fathered children by eighteen of them. After his death at age 80, the trouble began.

The Hawaiian royals liked to “keep it in the family”. It, as in property, and marriage, and “good traits” they wanted to preserve. So the next King, Kamehameha II, married his own half-sister. And pretty much all Kings after would marry relatives. Cousins, half-sisters. One even tried to marry a full sister and was prevented from doing so by Christian missionaries.

The Gambia Government spent over D300 million worth of procurement from 2014 to 2017 that passed the net of the Gambia Public Procurement Authority (GPPA) without an iota of scrutiny, an audit report obtained by The Standard revealed.
These expenditures, most of which are single-sourced, include the D21 million contract awarded to G*i Enterprise by the administration of President Adama Barrow to provide State House with household items such as furniture and other decorations.
This was part of the constructions that took place at State House while Barrow was staying at vice president’s residence at Fajara from January to November 2017.

IMF staff and the Gambian authorities have reached a staff-level agreement on economic policies to conclude the first review of the program under the Extended Credit Facility (ECF) arrangement.
The Gambia continues to advance its reform agenda. Economic activity continues to recover robustly. Inflation is decelerating but remains elevated. Pressures on the foreign exchange market are easing.
Persevering in strong policies is paramount to underpin the authorities’ ambitious development agenda.

Three industrialized trawlers have been arrested by an armed detachment of law enforcement agents stationed on board the Sea Shepherd Global vessel Age of Union as part of a joint mission named Operation Gambian Coastal Defense, after the Ministry of Defence in the West African country of The Gambia received intelligence that the vessels had been fishing illegally in protected waters.
