Bridgewater College Students Describe Shooting
Students being released from Flory Hall where the shooting took place today on the campus of Bridgewater College describe what they heard.
Students leaving class talked about what they experienced at Bridgewater College today.
Bridgewater College students and teachers have been released from Flory Hall.
Bridgewater College student Joshua Gilliam says that he was in class in Flory Hall when he started hearing gunfire.
Update: the fire has been contained. The Harrisonburg Fire Department is reporting no injuries as a result of the fire. All residents were able to make it out safely.
There have been reports that some animals died in the fire.
JMU student Mattie Boyd lives in the complex, but not in the building affected. She says that there are 12 apartments in each building, with 16 people living on each floor.
It appears to have started on the third floor, but that’s not conclusive.
None of the apartments have gas appliances.

Traffic on Peach Grove and Port Republic Road is being affected.
Multiple units from Harrisonburg, Bridgewater, Elkton and Clover Hill are on the scene.
A loud bang was heard by residents shortly before the fire began.
Avoid the area if possible.
