Posted • Today .sawers and I completed the circuit of our Widdershins walk. The fifth walk in the series took us from Lavells Lake to Play Hatch, a walk of about 6 miles. We were joined on the first half of the walk by of with her trainee assistance dog, Amber.
We began work on the Widdershins Walk book straight after the first walk, back in February. The work now continues to document this exploration of Reading's outer edge with paintings, woodcut prints, writing and photographs. Jane's book-design expertise will help to make this a book everyone will want in their collection. It will be published in Spring 2025.

You can find out more about the book and place an order on the link in my bio.

Just one little acquisition from this weekend but it's an absolute corker!

Persuaded by on her fab stall that I should know what I'm letting myself in for in my next book collaboration ... I bought Dreams by .sawers

Bonkers in the best possible way 😁

I love it! Reminds me a little of the joy I got from a previous impulse buy - True Stories by Sophie Calle, that I'm now reminded I should re-read

Posted • Peter Driver, who works from his studio in Sulhamstead has provided a print and a book to show at Bookface Chapter 15.

'A Walk For Stanley' is Peter's book in which he documents his experiences and reflections on a three-day walk from the Stanley Spencer Gallery in Cookham to the Sandham Memorial Chapel in Bughclere. The book, designed by Peculiarity Press, weaves together poetry, prose, sketches, woodcuts, and photographs in a beautiful account of a unique art project.

'The Losing Side' is a limited edition reduction woodcut on 300gsm somerset satin paper. It combines elements of some of our most endangered bird species, with abstract patterns inspired by the natural world. Detail shown here.

Very sad to say that circumstances outside my control have meant the cancellation of the event on Thursday. Many people were planning to come, and I have tried to email directly as far as possible.

I was so looking forward to meeting everyone, old faces, new faces, and friends and colleagues who I was going to meet for the first time in almost 30 years, or the first time in person. But it was not meant to be this time 😔

The book will still be released on Thursday.

It's a project I'm extremely proud to be part of creating. I hope you will be intrigued by TRACe: Museum of Memory and will consider buying a copy to explore for yourself.

It rained. But even in this rain, thought Emile Charpentier, as he shook the water from his shoes, Venice looked beautiful. It was a good job he bought his boat with him. And his wetsuit. And his dry socks, for umbrellas were of no use….
But then he noticed that, even in the puddles there were traces of other mysterious things in this watery city….
‘All will be revealed soon,’ he muttered.

'Typos: the story of a reluctant artwork' is almost here 🎈🎈🎈
Guarantee your copy - very short print run https://www.peculiaritypress.com/store/p18/typos.html

“…it’s easier to define what something isn’t than to say definitively what it is. Assuming you can really do either. I’m certainly not sure what Typos is because I think it becomes lots of different things to lots of different people... and on reflection I don’t think you can pin it down to one thing. Does that make sense?”

These are the words of the main protagonist talking about the artwork at the heart of this book. They apply just as well to the book itself: at once a work of fiction in the form of an artist’s monograph and a monograph about a fictional artwork.

Typos is the story of a significant but little known artwork by one of conceptual art’s most elusive and unknown practitioners. In setting out to produce a book about the enigmatic in art, the publisher and authors inadvertently raise questions about the nature of fiction and the nature of art.
