🎼Deep Dive to Khachaturian's 🎹🎵🎶
The Masquerade Suite is a richly contrasted theatre score. These sensitive piano arrangements preserve the very essence of Khachaturian’s music, maintaining the texture and clarity of the original orchestral scores.
The continuous, incessant pulse of the quavers creates a canvas on which jumping motifs from woodwinds with tart, sharp consonances are strung. The orchestral accompaniment is decorated with colours such as the glissando of flageolets on violins, the glissando of trombones, and the diverse use of percussion.

🎼Deep Dive to Khachaturian's 🎹🎵🎶
The idea to create the ballet Spartacus came to Aram Khachaturian in December 1941. With this work, he wanted to show the heroic image of a man of ancient history, in order to maintain the strong-willed spirit of the people in the struggle for their freedom and independence.
The music of Spartacus embodies the most striking features of Khachaturian’s work: catchy, memorable images, lush and brilliant mass scenes, and the cinematic quality of Spartacus became apparent when the ‘Adagio of Spartacus and Phrygia’ was used as the theme for the popular BBC drama series during the 1970s.

'Gayane' was conceived as a ballet in four acts and six scenes. The ballet was based on an earlier work, 'Happiness', and Khachaturian re-used this music for his new score. He consistently applies the principle of leitmotif to each of the characters.
