Our most recent collaboration with the Austin Open Mic Musician Show -- please enjoy some timelapses from the first four inaugural shows! Online voting is now open to select FINALISTS for the upcoming showcase on Saturday, July 13, 2024 at 7pm. Check out the playlist in the comments and cast your votes by July 1st at NOON. Each viewer can upvote each video in two different ways:

1. Liking the video counts as one vote
2. Commenting on the video counts as one vote
(if you comment multiple times, it will still only be counted as one vote)

Essentially, each viewer can cast two votes for a video. Voting will close on Monday 7/01/2024 at 12 Noon CDT. In the case of a tie, number of views will be used to break the tie.

We had almost 50 performers grace the stage during this first series -- once the votes are cast, the 5 top performers will be paid to perform a 25 minute set for the Final Showcase on Saturday, July 13, 2024 from 7pm-10pm at Kenny Dorham's Backyard, 1106 E 11th St, Austin, TX 78702. Suggested donation is $10.

This summer's featured retro game on our channel over @ twitch.tv/MakeEveryMedia is "King's Quest VI: Heir Today, Gone Tomorrow!" Written by Jane Jensen & Roberta Williams. Released in 1992.

It only took 32 YEARS for some of us to start playing this game 😳🤴⚔️🦉 Many consider it the greatest of the Classic Point & Click Adventures, so we do feel a certain duty to the crown... but how will it stack up to Tim Curry in Gabriel Knight??

Join Mike and pixel hunter cyborg geniuses Heather & Kevin for SIERRA SUMMER SUNDAYS as they quest for the best possible endings and nerd out about games, tech, storytelling, acting, music, history, and mythology along the way.

This Sunday (6/23), TONIGHT, at around 6pm Central, Kevin and Mike will be completing one of our other all time favorite adventures, LOOM. And then next Sunday (6/30), at around 7pm, Heather will be joining us for Part 5 of our King's Quest VI play-through!

ALSO: We're publishing edits of the first parts of these play-throughs on our YouTube starting today if you want to watch from the beginning! Links are in the comments and/or the bio, as they say.

The Year is 2024: ANY GIVEN SUNDAY NIGHT, we could be playin' games, and ANY GIVEN MONDAY, we could be playin' music and/or talkin' ‘bout robots... live on the internets.

For instance, TONIGHT (Sun 1/7) @ 7:35pm (ish), we're playin' more King's Quest 6 with Heather and Kevin...

…and then TOMORROW (Mon 1/8) @ 8PM (ish), we're talkin' with Jules about POOR THINGS, 2046, and ARTIFICIAL CONDITION.

Merry Xmas to all, and to all a GABRIEL KNIGHT 📚🙀👹

Happy 30th Anniversary to Jane Jensen's Classic Sierra Adventure Game, "Gabriel Knight: Sins of the Fathers," released December 16th, 1993, and starring Tim Curry, Leah Remini, Mark Hamill, and Michael Dorn.

The Sierra Sunday Crew (Heather, Kevin, and Mike) played this game over the course of a year (18 hours over 11 broadcasts from Feb 2022 to Mar 2023), and then we spent MORE hours editing at the first broadcast (2/20/2022) to make it into a nice little half-hour show for your end-of-year enjoyment! Link in the comments.

~

Editor's Note: Not sure I can justify editing the remaining 18 hours of this play-thru myself, but I would love to be able to pay other editors to do such a thing... and asking for patronage / sponsorship seems to be the only way to make this model make sense! So if you're enjoying this content, please consider becoming a Patreon or "Buy Me A Coffee" supporter, or a Twitch subscriber, which you can actually do thru Amazon Prime for free. And then we'll give you access to our "mostly uncut" broadcasts if you can't wait for the edits!

Aaand we’re back, tonight after 8pm, after 7 very long months, with another ancient and meticulous videogame study by our team of 3-4 intrepid point & click pixel-hunters: H, K, and the M's!

“King’s Quest VI: Heir Today, Gone Tomorrow” was released on October 13th in 1992, written and directed by Roberta Williams and Jane Jensen, and widely lauded as “the best” of the whole series... but we’ll just have to see about that tonight won't we!!

Do we STILL like point & clicks, after all this time?? Are they ACTUALLY FUN? Does this one hold up against Tim Curry's Gabriel Knight???

Find out tonight, when we go live after 8pm Central on MEM-TV!!

Make Every Media Spotlight on Penfold Theatre Company’s Spotlight on Beth Burns, the writer, director, and ideator of “The Hidden Storybook, and the director of Penfold's new show, Vincent, which we also highly recommend!!

Beth is one of our very favorite clients of all time, the kind of client that can restore your faith in humanity after you’ve been run over by corporations your whole life, ya know? And we've got just THREE days left to help her raise the funds for a full-cast recording of The Hidden Storybook!

http://kck.st/3lEQFkJ

We hope to build lots more stories into this app eventually, stories of the far future (and the legendary past), and help motivate folks to clean and go for walks and all kinds of other everyday tasks... but first we gotta complete this Cinderella "proof of concept" story by recording it with this amazing cast — they’re the only ones who can truly prove this concept!!

Meet Vincent's director: Beth Burns!

Beth is truly double the director. She directed Ryan and Nathan in the production when it was set to run in the spring of 2020. And now she is back on the team to bring this production that has been 3 years in the making to Central Texas audiences. Not only that! Beth has been working tirelessly to guide Ryan and Nathan through two entirely unique rehearsal processes for this one-person show. We are in awe.

About Beth Burns:
Beth Burns began her career at the world-famous Groundlings Theatre in Los Angeles, where she worked as a teacher and performer for over ten years. She is an actor (Saturday Night Live, American Crime, Friday Night Lights), director, producer, and NEA award-winning playwright, and studied under theatre luminaries José Quintero, Sydney Berger, and Edward Albee. Now, Burns is the Founder/Artistic Director of the award-winning Hidden Room Theatre, specializing in immersive/interactive new works and scholar-driven classics. The company has toured the US and abroad, including stops at Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre, Oxford University, the British Library, and the Shakespeare Institute in Stratford-Upon-Avon.

Get your tickets to Vincent now!

If you would like to support the work she does with her theatre company, The Hidden Room, you can find out more at http://kck.st/3lEQFkJ.

Hey, we're allowed to publish an even better edit of our interview with Beth Burns of The Hidden Room the very next day if we want to!! We were getting this ready to go on our audio-only podcast, ya see, and then we noticed a few more "opportunities" -- so this edit's got a few choice VO inserts from the game and a few new music choices from the Austin Baroque Orchestra! YouTube link in the comments 🎻 🎶

And NOW there's an actual audio-only podcast version available as well on our SoundCloud channel, which posts to wherever you listen to podcasts (Spotify, Apple, etc), just search for our podcast "Make Every Media" or find links in the comments! Or consume both and see if you can hear the subtle differences in sound design 🎙 🥸

Only 9 days left to fund that full-cast recording on Kickstarter!!!

Join us Mondays in October @ 8:30pm CST for "Treehouse of Horror-ology," a deep-dive on the the longest-running tradition in the longest-running animated series in history, THE SIMPSONS, featuring the illustrious funeral scientist, Megan Molten.

Last year we created "the perfect order" in which to watch all 32 Simpsons Halloween Specials (see image attached to this post). This year we are putting that order to the ultimate test by grading each and every sketch as we go!

And then it's more of "TOO MANY GAMES," where we attempt to play a little bit of EVERY videogame on our list -- starting with Part 2 of Monkey Island 2: LeChuck's Revenge!

See you over on Twitch in a few hours!!

MEM-TV is BACK. Mondays in October @ 8:30pm CST, it's the Return of "Treehouse of Horrorology," a deep-dive on the the longest-running animated series in history, THE SIMPSONS, featuring the illustrious funeral scientist, Megan Molten. Last year we created "the perfect order" in which to watch all 32 Simpsons Halloween Specials (listicle coming soon), and this year we are putting it to the ultimate test by grading each and every sketch as we go.

These discussions will be followed by a new segment we like to call "TOO MANY GAMES," where we attempt to play everything -- a bit of Monkey Island 2: LeChuck's Revenge, a bit of Breath of the Wild, tiny bits of Skyward Sword & Shadow of War, maybe a NEW game from the library -- or as much as is needed to make our adhd all nice and cozy and sleepy :) There's just too many games y'all, gotta try 'em all!

"Why gender a robot? What purpose does it serve? Does it help us form attachments? And what does that say about how we view and perform gender in our everyday human lives?"

These are all questions raised by noted collaborator & cyborg / clown, Julie Moore. We've been recording conversations about gender representation in robots since March of 2021 -- sometimes privately over Zoom or an app called "Marco Polo," sometimes live-streamed publicly over Twitch -- and we can't wait to start sharing our research with you!

This of course includes a deep-dive on the entire Terminator franchise (all 6 movies at least), which is currently being edited. But what we're sharing with you today is a much-toiled-over "final edit" of our VERY FIRST CONVERSATION about this subject, the conversation that sparked over a year's worth of research, speculation, spreadsheets, charts & graphs, and binges & streams. Please enjoy the pilot episode of GenderBots w/ Julie Moore.
