WE MADE IT TO QUÉBEC!!!🇨🇦🫶🏼

On our first stop we were meeting up with our new friends Steve and Judith who replied to our post (like many of you did too!❤️) where we informed about coming back to the Americas.🌎

And just a few months later we met up in person and had a wonderful time together.

We gave each other the ultimate van tours, went kayaking and simply shared great stories.

Thank you for having us, Steve and Judith, we enjoyed every minute of it.😊🙏🏼

Goes to our dear friend Audrey which offered us a place to stay at her house while the van was getting fixed.

We did not know each other before, but after she heard what happened she did not hesitate to take us all in and this meant the world to us.🫶🏼

We have become closer every day while spending some time together and besides having lots of laughter, we also shared deeper conversations as time went by.

WE ARE FINALLY BACK ON THE ROAD EVERYBODY!!!🌎🤪🤘🏼

Pam and i are relieved and beyond excited to have our home on wheels back after 4 weeks in the shop here in Canada to get the engine replaced.

In the past 4 weeks we were literally going through a rollercoster of emotions and this picture says it all.😜🤙🏼

WHAT A MESS, FULL STORY BELOW!!!

One day after we finished paperwork we were finally able to pick up our home on wheels, but the excitement did not last long as we experienced some running issues literally coming out of nowhere and we were forced to get the van towed to a local Vanagon shop.🇨🇦

Diagnosis from the shop:
ENGINE FAILURE AFTER ONLY 10‘000KM OR 6200 MILES!!!🤯😤😡

It turned out that the Vanagon shop back home in Switzerland (or in other words the assigned mechanic, let‘s call him R.) which we used for over 10 years (AND WE WILL NEVER USE AGAIN!!!🤬) who did the complete rebuild on the Syncro including the engine, made some mistakes confirmed by the shop here!

That being said, those weren‘t the only mistakes made through the whole rebuilding process.

We can‘t describe in words how we felt after getting the bad news, especially after all the careful planning, the time, and the money we have invested into the complete van rebuild.

It was, and still is, a very bitter pill to swallow for Pam and me, especially financially.😩

Long story short, in order to get us back on the road we had no choice but to have the engine rebuilded again at the Vanagon shop here in Canada.

A lot has happened in the past 8 weeks since we arrived in Canada, time for an update.😉

The good news first: the cargo ship with our container and the van on it arrived save and sound in Halifax.(picture 1 & 2)

Also, no issues with paperwork at customs ergo our home on wheels is officially back on the Americas.🌎🚐

After intensive weeks of planning we made it finally back on the Americas and arrived save and sound in Halifax, Canada.🇨🇦

We are saying good bye to Morocco after 2 months exploring and we are glad we can leave with a highlight while meeting our new furry friends out in the desert.🐪

However to be fully honest with you all, we experienced Morocco in many ways while being here and we gotta say, we both are leaving quite disapointed.🤷🏻‍♂️

We are heading back to Spain next to get this rollin‘, fingers crossed all goes well.🤞🏼

Our focus is now fully on heading back to the Americas, this is where we simply belong, and where our future lies.❤️👫🏻🐶🐶🚐

Pam and i have decided to come back to the Americas as we simply miss EVERYTHING!!!🫶🏼

This just doesn‘t feel right over here in Africa, and it didn‘t either in Europe.

We will ship the van over to Halifax and when everything goes as planned, we all will arrive in may 2024.🚐👫🏻🐶🐶

Our focus will be on North America & Central America.🌎😜🤙🏼

We have spent the last week exploring the Middle Atlas region of Morocco with lots of hiking, exploring and staying away from the crowds, here are some impressions for you all.😊

Our highlight was definetly being surrounded by some wild Barbary Macaque‘s, they came out of nowhere and were very curious about us, and the dog‘s.🫶🏼

The whole group was very friendly, relaxed and we enjoyed having them totally to ourselves, we felt very lucky.🍀

Note: the population has decreased by more than 50% over the last 40 years, there are fewer than 8000 wild Barbary Macaque‘s left which made this experience even more special.❤️🐒

LUNCH-BREAK FOR A MOROCCON TAJINE!!!😋✌🏼

But what is that exactly?🤔

First, a tajine or tagine refers to a type of North African cookware traditionally made of clay or ceramic.(See last picture)

The word tagine also refers to the succulent, stew-like dish which is slow-cooked in the traditional cookware. Typically, a tagine is a rich mixture of meat, poultry, or fish, and most often includes vegetables or fruit.

And it is simply very flavourful and delicious you guys!💯
