[Misleading Newspaper Inflicts Suffering]
A well known county Donegal newspaper has inflicted further emotional pain on families of the Creeslough tragedy victims due to irresponsible reporting.
Recently there has been opposition by some of the families to the proposed rebuilding of the shop on the former site of the disaster. The families understandably want a memorial garden to be built at the site. This will be a much better way to promote healing in the area which has experienced a great tragedy.
This week a newspaper in Donegal published a misleading article which seemed to announce from the headline that the shop would be rebuilt at a new location in the area. However the developer plans to rebuild the shop at a different spot on the same site.
Some of the families on initially seeing the article thought that the developers had changed their mind and were planning to build a new shop at a totally different location as the headline suggests.
Their hopes for a proper memorial garden were once again threatened on closer inspection of the actual text of the article.
The families urge everyone to sign the online petition in order to gain the proper respect for the victims of the tragedy in the form of a memorial garden only at the site of the former shop.
