Call alert 🚨 Brian Centrone says it’s time to !

An early 15th century English proverb stated, “clothes make the man.” An earlier classical Greek one claimed, “the man is his clothing.” If both are true, what kind of man is being made? Dress Him Up: A Tailored Collection of Bespoke Fiction seeks submissions of short stories between 1,000 and 3,000 words that explore the connection between menswear and the creation of the male identity.

New Lit Salon Press is pleased to announce an open call for Dress Him Up, the follow-up to Dress You Up: A Capsule Collection of Fashionable Fiction.

This week’s giveaway is inspired by Farah Ahamed’s story, “This One’s Not for Us.”

This is week 4 of the EvaDress Pattern giveaway based on the book, Dress You Up, an anthology of fictional accounts regarding fashion and how it truly influences us and those in our lives, to put it briefly.

Dress You Up was edited by Brian Centrone, Salon Style: Fiction, Poetry & Art and Southern Gothic: New Tales of the South (and who kindly juried the last two EvaDress Pattern Challenges)!

Details about and to order the book (I got mine on Amazon) are here:

https://newlitsalonpress.com/product/dress-you-up/

There are now 8 weeks left to this giveaway after this week!

I read This One's Not for Us, by Farah Ahamed. This short raises questions such as, is there irony in fashion? Can fashion be denied to us? Is fashion a commodity or an indication of one's spiritual status?
I am giving away any evening pattern from the EvaDress.com collection of this weeks drawing winner's choice.

Just comment on this post and you automatically have a chance at the give away!

Another EvaDress Patterns + inspired giveaway! This one is all about “A Pocket for Secrets.”

Are pockets more than part of a garment? Are they holders of some dark history or is there some secret to be instilled in a pocket?

I read A Pocket for Secrets, by Susan Carey and the EvaDress Pattern give-away based on the book, Dress You Up continues!

Comment on this post and share it through next Monday to be entered into this week’s drawing for $25 off at EvaDress.com!

Each week’s drawing pick is announced each Tuesday.

I am doing a pattern giveaway each week for each story I read in the book for the next 12 weeks.

I first read Hemlines, the story by P.J. Schaefer addresses the insinuations about raising skirt hems.

This, at a time when I am pending work on a shortened version of the skirt from the Schiparelli ensemble pattern (https://evadress.com/products/1930s-schiparelli-ensemble-se30-1667) for a possible competition entry, I am giving away any skirt pattern or pattern containing a skirt from the EvaDress.com collection of your choice.

We are NLSP and we create books.

Founded by Brian Centrone (Publisher) and Jordan M. Scoggins (Creative Director) in 2012, New Lit Salon Press is a stylish, independent 21st-century press based on the principle that Words and Art can and should coexist. We believe literary art need not be stuffy and aim to bring an approachable vibe to excellent writing, always served with a dash of humor and a wink and a nod. We publish emerging and established writers and artists who share this vision. We believe in what you do.

The world of publishing has changed. NLSP not only recognises that but embraces it. We publish carefully crafted books because we believe great art and writing deserves to be presented beautifully. All of our titles are available in affordable paperback editions and electronic form.

With over 30 collective years of experience in creative, publishing, technology, and academic fields, we bring a unique skill set to the table. Our comprehensive approach is designed to nurture new and unheard talent in ways most publishers do not. Like many small presses, NLSP is a labor of love. Any profits we make support the press so we can continue to offer new opportunities to showcase your work. We love what we do (and hope you do too).

We are writers. We are artists. We are NLSP and we create books.
