The founders view of government was for limited, minimal government. Which was far less than what we have now. The term closest to what was intended was Minarchy. Which literally means " minimal government. In a world where either wants massive government( communism, social democracy, democracy) or none at all( anarchy), its important to understand what the founders determined was the closest idea

to " good" government. Until 1913-present, this idea fairer well. From 1913 on progressive liberals of both parties built larger and larger government, so expansive that in this day and age is the norm, commonplace, and no one even questions it. Things such as: federal reserve, new deal, great society, patriot act, affordable care act, endless departments, EPA, et cetera have massively increased governments role FAR beyond. It's important to know they're unnecessary!
