SHADOWS
My compassion shadows me
Everywhere I go
Follows my forgiving heart
For everyone I know
It's invisible outline lumbers slowly
Searching for ways to care
Using caution as it approaches
In case someone fragile is there
Sometimes I wonder why my compassion
Is restless and cannot sleep
And then I realize it's because
There is so much pain I keep
Not for holding or dwelling in misery
But for r
emembrance of how it feels
To suffer heartache, tragedy, sickness
And unanswered mercy appeals
It knows so well the miracle of a child
And the anguish of losing one
The joys of finally living your dream
And holding a precious son
It knows of near death experiences
And almost leaving this world
Of living with tormented memories
Sanity tumbles unfurled
It knows the pleasure of being in love
Being hurt rejected and scorned
But also knows the euphoria of requite
Being treasured with lovers halo adorned
Of bedding in the arms of someone who loves you
For who you are and will come to be
Believes in you and your propensities
Letting you soar and your spirit fly free
But it also knows there are those that suffer
Are abused and mistreated beat down
Trapped behind doors that are closed to the world
Suffocating in despair they drown
Looking for a way to turn the wheel
Flow the tide in a different way
Hanging on to life and hope in their hearts
As they fight thru another day
My compassion will never allow me to forget
No matter how good things get for me
That for some only faith and belief is their savior
And for those thou mercy I plea
Pull together the fragments of their broken hearts
Soothe their minds with peace and calm thought
Let them know that compassion shadows them
Fellow empathy that can not be bought
Love shadows the way to compassionate dreams
That become realities light
When others unselfishly shine in the dark
And attempt to change wrongs to right
Leading all souls to friendship and kisses
Of beauty loyalty and pride
Letting them see they have not been forgotten
And that you will never leave their side
Believe receive elevate and create
A path that leads the way
Filled with shadows of I love yous I miss yous
positive affirmations each day
Those of you with compassionate hearts
Teach your neighbor your friend your offspring
To love unceasingly be forgiving and trust
That good fruitage their actions will bring
How do you teach it? Just be it and then
Joy and delight will find it's way in
The ones that you touch will find the way
As your shadow appears at the dusk of day
