A couple of weeks ago, my husband and I had a falling out with old friends. It's hard to coordinate time and space to meet when there are competing schedules and priorities on both sides. ⏰

But the conversation went completely sideways when I mentioned not wanting to do bedtime alone or be without my husband's help for another morning or evening. 😵‍💫

He was doing physical therapy 2-3 times a week before and after work, which left me shouldering a lot of the responsibility solo while running my business. Which means I was working a lot more after the kids were in bed, too. 🥵

And honestly, bedtime is a big deal for our family. So, I invited them over thinking it could be a win-win. Until it wasn't. 😬

I found myself spiraling and defending myself as a mom and wife, which is something the old me would have done, and that is not a level I want stoop to, even now, to treat another woman that way. 🙅🏻‍♀️

There was a time when I was working corporate and traveling a lot. There was a time when my husband was on-call a lot while Mallory was little. We've created a life we love and bedtime is a big deal around here! 🥰

Trust me, while it's not always rainbows and butterflies, and sometimes, it's more like meltdowns and hornets! 😂

But we still choose it every day, and I know they'll always remember the extra time we spent and how we showed up. ❤

Since then, we've had many photo shoots with her throughout different milestones in our lives. I'm so grateful to have these moments captured.

The kids are getting so big. These might be my favorite photos so far. Thank you, Morgan for always capturing our real family moments (including the kids fighting, haha!).

We will cherish these photos for a lifetime!

I mean, finding the time to get to the gym consistently feels like a gift. 💝

That’s because it is. 🙏🏼

We can so easily get stuck in the hamster wheel of, “It we do more, we can be more,” but that’s simply not true. 🙅🏻‍♀️

We are deserving without stretching ourselves past our mental and physical limits, and we can be grateful simultaneously, too. ✨

I’m grateful for a body that’s able and willing. 💜

After several years in marketing-related jobs, I become a mother to a beautiful baby girl. If you know marketing, you know it’s full of chaos, mostly unattainable deadlines, long hours equaling A LOT OF COFFEE. Prior to becoming a mother, I had the mindset that I would continue life, at the same pace, doing the same things, being the same ambitious woman I have always been because I THRIVED on this career, this lifestyle. I was wrong, kinda. Can you believe it? It turns out that seeing that sweet little face, fingers, and toes put me into some kind of new-mom trance (ah, that’s the thing all the already-moms talk about!). I became so infatuated with my little angel and vowed that I was never going back to work. I said things like, “I could live in a cardboard box with this baby and I would be happy,” dramatic, right? Well, I meant it, kinda.

So the months of maternity leave passed, the new motherhood glow subsided slightly, and I came to the realization, “I have to go back to work.” WHY?! You mean I have to leave this baby. The one who has relied so heavily on me for the last three months? Okay, I’m ready. I can do this. Guess what? I got my livelihood back. Well, kinda because my rediscovered passion was only interested in committing part-time for the first year - and then, it dawned on me, everything became more meaningful. My life. My relationships. My career. I did everything with even more passion and even more efficiency than before. Really? Yes.

I realized that I loved my new life so much that I started to apply it to my professional life. If my life wasn’t feeling meaningful, it was my job to work harder to find fulfillment again. If my relationships were half-assed and one-sided, they had to go. If my career wasn’t giving me life like it used to, it was my job to make sure that it did again.

So, if you’ve stayed with me this long, please understand that not all parts of life are meaningful - focus on the ones that are. Be greedy and strategic about your investments. I’m not talking money. Not all relationships are necessary, but the ones that are worth it are. Keep them. If your career isn’t getting you to where you want to go, get off that path. Now. Don’t waste any more time. The same goes for marketing. Some of it is experimental. You try it out. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn’t. Don’t be afraid to be creative and switch it up.
