Every summer the Santa Cruz Mountains plays host to Young Actors' Theatre Camp, a team-building experience like no other held at Mount Cross in Ben Lomond. Young people aged 8 to 18 have the opportunity to attend weekend, week-long, and month-long overnight sessions fully immersed in professionally curated theater and film-making workshops led by experts in the industry. The gastropub in the heart of the downtown Felton shopping district in the Santa Cruz Mountains reopened one year ago this January after suffering setbacks from the pandemic. They're going strong now, with new food items and rotating taps.

As of February 2025, Humble Sea Tavern has partnered with The Emerald Mallard Restaurant to offer brunch on Sundays!

Shout out to Herrick Games and Hobbies of Boulder Creek, which is enjoying a roaring good business upstairs at 13090 Highway 9 just above Jenna Sue's Cafe!

"Skye Herrick started his gaming enterprise in September of 2019 in the back of his brother’s hardware store in Virginia. Itching to do something different and using the pandemic as a pivot point, he moved his family to Boulder Creek with the idea of starting a new store. Two days after the family moved in, they were evacuated, forced to flee the CZU fire. With gratitude, the family returned to an intact home, and Skye and his wife Jade opened Herrick Games and Hobbies above Jenna Sue’s Cafe in October of 2021."

The downtown Felton Community Deck was damaged early this morning. Repairs will take awhile and not in time for this weekends Memorial day Parade.

The Redwood Community Deck was damaged by an errant driver early this morning.

Believe it or not, the Deck is considered a county park by the Santa Cruz County Parks Department.

That department will be responsible for initiating repair and restoration of the deck. Unfortunately not likely before this coming weekend's Felton Remembers Memorial Weekend Parade.

Another San Lorenzo Valley Business Directory has delivered to 13,000 local residents and businesses. Last year the Valley faced many challenges, first due to COVID, then due to the fire. Services were disrupted, and residents were displaced. Though we wanted to publish a 2020-21 directory last year, it seemed that the odds were against us. We decided it was best to hold the publication until San Lorenzo Valley was in renewal mode, and spring was in the air. This is the oldest surviving publication in San Lorenzo Valley. Published since 1983, it has barely skipped in issue all the years. Help keep the Directory going by making sure your business listings are current. And, of course, it's always more visible to advertise for maximum exposure.

For those of you wondering, the directory is still coming. We got delayed due to COVID, but things always work out for us. So the next edition is going to deliver around Labor Day. Because of all this, the publication will permanently deliver on Labor Day from now on. So advertisers will still get a full year. Have a good day!
