Black Monk Sound Records was founded in 2010 by Kaleb Hunter more as an idea of a truely free, creative place for creative people..as opposed to a traditional record label.Originally started just as a name to put out albums by The Flowers of Evil, BMS is now also starting to look for other artists and musicians who would like to record and make interesting records. We are a very small, independent
label as of right now, pretty much ran by Kaleb with the help of others. And we aim to keep it independent, for the artist and ourselves.DIY in the truest sense of the phrase is our aim. You dont need a record deal or a record label or any of that s**t. We want great bands and artists to be able to make a record fastly without dealing with all the jive. Our recording gear and set up is very simple and effective. We have an 8 track cassette recorder that gets a nice warm, real sound. And we also could be able to get ahold of some 2 track reel to reel equipment if you would be interested in try that out. Or experimenting with something else. We have other pieces of equipment too, digital stuff, 4 tracks etc. We also have a studio room, The Sun Room, located in Murphysboro Il. But the equipment is light and mobile so we can record pretty much anywhere, in your living room if you want.
