This Mid Century Modern dresser was imported from America to Australia with the previous owners. We RARELY get pieces like this so imagine my excitement when it popped up on my MP! My OG plan was to restore the dresser, I did not want to touch it with paint. After stripping the drawers back though they were patchy and mismatched, some drawers and trim were red and some were quite light/blonde with a couple of drawers having black patches. Grudgingly I decided to cover the blemished timber drawer fronts but keep everything else beautiful and natural. It took me a moment to get over not being able to restore it…but now? This piece had so many hurdles to jump over before it reached its stunning true self.
Lead based paint is toxic so i had to make sure i had all the protective gear and disposed of it appropriately.
Ive never had alot of luck with the furniture repair colours but this time i nailed it 🎉
The hardware took a long time to come, then i was sent the wrong ones, then my back ups were never dispatched. I didnt want to put anything ON any handles as i wanted superior durability so instead of spray painting or rub n buffing them i opted to age them.
