Any type of lifts or equipment always comes at a high cost. My parents have always purchased used to help alleviate the financial side of things. It’s only been this past year that my parents have been able to get brand new lifts installed. It was a long process to get everything approved!
Lifts like this one are an essential for caregivers and people who are disabled because it allows them to be lifted safely. We feel blessed to have things better set up for Daniels care. Especially as my parents get older.

I’m so thankful to have my kids. They’ve given a whole new meaning to our family!
Our days are busy and at times overwhelming doing our best to care for everyone. But it’s worth it.
Daniel really enjoys having the kids around. I like to think it adds some excitement to his mundane routine.
We were thankful for this beautiful day! 💖

Seeing my Brother communicate this way for the first time brought tears to my eyes. The last couple of years have been hard for my family. Daniel doesn’t just light up like he did in this video! It was such a special moment for my family.
We are praying that we can get the proper funding so that Daniel could start his journey sharing his voice with others! It’s going to take a lot of work to learn everything but clearly Daniel has motivation and excitement to accomplish this goal. 🫶🏼

I think the hard part about being a sibling to our special needs siblings is the fact that there’s no guide book on how to deal with everything that comes along with this special life.
I think a lot of the times we feel misunderstood. We are praised by our family for choosing to be apart of everything but we are misunderstood by people who don’t live our lives. The constant feeling of having to explain ourselves or reassure people we are living the life we want to live. Can be tiring.
Why would you burden your life when it’s your parent’s responsibility? Because he’s my Brother. To me family is everything, I want to rise up and be the best Sister I can be. If I was in Daniel’s shoes, how would I want my family to care for me?
Growing up you always had a desire to do your best to make all the stressful situations better. Not that you could really change anything because you were a kid. But you wanted to lessen the heavy feelings in the home so you could help your parents navigate many unordinary, stressful times.
You may not understand the weight of the feelings or decisions but you feel them like your own. You are going through just as much as your parent’s.
That is why I’m committed to be there for my family. So we can all work together to make life a little easier!

What’s truly amazing is Daniel finds ways to communicate without words. Sometimes it’s the unspoken that can say that most!

Having faith where God has placed you is a challenge at times. But for my family having faith has played a pivotal role in us getting through those terrible challenging circumstances. We all go through them!
Do your best to always have faith because if you are not faithful here. You won’t be fruitful there. God truly has a plan through it all! 🕊️

Team work truly makes the dream work! 🥰
When you’re in a caregiving family there are many worries involved. Many parents worry about their neurotypical child growing up alongside their disabled sibling. Will my child resent their sibling? Will they resent this life? They didn’t sign up for this!
I want to reassure you as the neurotypical child God knew what he was doing when he gave me a brother like Daniel. This is the only life I know so in some ways that helps.
This life is full of not so typical challenges. You can’t shelter your neurotypical kids from. But I think it’s important to change your mindset. Learning to care give will build some really amazing qualities that will stick with your kids throughout their lives.
It’s not something that is forced upon you’re kids. It’s something that you have to cultivate in your family. Leading by example. Using every moment as a teaching moment. Sharing the good and the hard as you go through it. My Mom once wrote in her journal a very powerful statement. She wrote, “My daughter is going through just as much as I am.” It gives me shivers!
Acknowledging the fact that everyone is experiencing a lot in this special life is so important. You need to be open and honest with the realities of this life. Then teach your kids how to work through them! This alone will build lifelong character in who they become.
Using the sentence, “We are a team!” Is such a simple statement with a big impact. It’s something my parents always said in whatever we were going through. It made me feel like I was important and played a pivotal role in the family.
There’s so much I could say on this topic on how to raise neurotypical kids in this not so typical life! I thought about making a YouTube video so I could share in longer form or maybe writing a blog type of post. Let me know what media you would prefer or if that’s something you would be interested in.
I hope you feel encouraged! 🕊️💕🫶🏼

You know what’s amazing? We are all broken individuals. We aren’t perfect. We can be selfish. Angry. Hurt. But God still loves us because we are beautiful and wonderfully made! 🕊️

It’s truly hard emotionally on days like this. We do our best to be positive and keep moving forward but you feel the heaviness of the day.
Watching my Mom fighting for Daniel to get this communication board truly shows a Mothers love. It gets her emotional to talk about because she wants to give Daniel the chance to communicate through technology!
But it’s also a big investment and you have a sinking feeling hoping Daniel will continue to put in the work to get used to communicating that way. We hope it can open up the doors for Daniel to speak for himself. Especially since he responded so well during the hour he got to try it out.
It’s an uneasy journey but we are doing our best to step out in faith in hopes that it all works out for Daniel!

Daniel is simply my Brother. Yes, I know he is severely disabled. That is how I’ve always known my Brother to be.
So it was never some big formal conversation that my parents had to explain to me. I’m sure they had to talk through some things. But it was more about working together as a family that my parents focused on.
God knew what he was doing when he gave me Daniel as my Brother! 💕

I am so proud to be Daniel’s sister!
Life is full of challenges but it’s all about having a good cry, having perspective, and having the strong will and determination to keep going.
I hope Daniel motivates you because he sure does motivate me in many ways! 🫶🏼
