An immense new release from Makaya McCraven the Chicago-based percussionist, composer, producer on the brilliant

"Although this album is “new," the truth it’s something that's been in process for a very long time, since shortly after he released his International Anthem debut In The Moment in 2015. Dedicated followers may note he’s had 6 other releases in the meantime (including 2018’s widely-popular Universal Beings and 2020’s We’re New Again, his rework of Gil Scott-Heron’s final album for XL Recordings); but none of which have been as definitive an expression of his artistic ethos as In These Times. This is the album McCraven’s been trying to make since he started making records. And his patience, ambition, and persistence have yielded an appropriately career-defining body of work.

As epic and expansive as it is impressively potent and concise, the 11 song suite was created over 7+ years, as McCraven strived to design a highly personal but broadly communicable fusion of odd-meter original compositions from his working songbook with orchestral, large ensemble arrangements and the edit-heavy “organic beat music” that he’s honed over a growing body of production-craft."

New WheelUp track featuring three mighty Khaidi Tatham

“More Love” is the new collab from producer, DJ and bruk revivalist WheelUP aka West London’s Danny Wheeler and legendary talent, broken beat pioneer and the “UK’s Herbie Hancock” Kaidi Tatham. The track also features a WheelUP regular, Alabamian rapper Brint Story on vocals who lays down his nuanced, positive and political lyrics on the beat.

“More Love” is an intergenerational collaboration between two waves of the broken beat scene, the track blends electronic and bruk with funk, neo-soul, and the edge of hip-hop. The song itself is a beacon of positivity and self-love in an epoch age of negativity, “It’s about having belief in yourself, trying to be reliable and righteous, and the need for more love in the world” Danny explains."

Dorian Concept will release his new album “What We Do For Others” on 28th October on Brainfeeder Records

The first single released from the album 'Let It All Go' came out this week.

"It’s the third studio album by the Austrian producer and synthesizer savant, famed for his singular, beautifully detailed sonic tapestries and wild, utterly joyful live keyboard jam videos.

“What We Do For Others” is a relaxed, quietly confident and intimate record, founded on delightfully loose arrangements, feedbacked soundscapes and blessed with snatches of his own cryptic vocals that are presented more as additional instrumentation rather than lyrical phrases. All the elements and layers were recorded without interruptions and deliberately not edited.

Based in Vienna, Oliver Johnson has nevertheless been a stalwart of the experimental jazz/electronic scene that has flourished and diversified in the orbit of Brainfeeder’s figurehead Flying Lotus.

Johnson released his debut album “Joined Ends” (2014) on Ninja Tune, before landing on Brainfeeder in 2018 to share “The Nature of Imitation”: an album of dizzying swells, cacophonous breakdowns and formidable rhythms with Pitchfork gushing “Dorian Concept creates something that 70s and 80s electro-funk auteurs like Kraftwerk, George Clinton, and Roger Troutman hinted at: computer music that uncannily imitates the funk, rather than just faking it.”

Brand new Bonobo
Track released yesterday called "ATK"

"Bonobo has shared “ATK,” his first single since the release of his new album Fragments in January. The single is out on his label OUTLIER in partnership with Ninja Tune.

“ATK” was made around the same time as Fragments. Initially a DJ edit of Atakora Manu’s ‘Dada,’ it became something fuller and a track of its own. I felt it was a little too bashy to fit on the album and wanted to save it as an OUTLIER release to be aimed more at the dance floor,” says Bonobo aka Simon Green. Manu was an influential Ghanaian Highlife guitarist, composer, and studio engineer that formed the legendary Kakaiku No. 2 Band with Moses Kweku Oppong in the late ‘60s."

New 4-track release from Mount Kimbie called 'MK 3.5'

"While Mount Kimbie has yet released a follow-up to 2017's 'Love What Survives', the electronic duo haven't left us completely high and dry. Earlier this week, Dom Maker and Kai Campos returned with more of their recent creations following last year's singles "Black Stone" and "Blue Liquid." MK 3.5 consists of two double A-side singles with features from Liv.e, Slowthai , and Danny Brown "A deities encore" (feat. Liv.e) and "In your eyes" (feat. Slowthai & Danny Brown) were made by Maker, while "Q" and "Quarts" were the work of Campos."

Brand new George Fitzgerald single released 'Setting Sun' ahead of the new LP 'Stellar Drifting' out on Domino 2nd September.

"Stellar Drifting is 10 tracks of widescreen, futuristic electronic music. With features from the likes of SOAK, London Grammar and Domino’s own Panda Bear, Stellar Drifting is George’s most ambitious project to date. George keeps his roots deep within the electronic music scene, bringing in pop melodies, club rhythms and other UK dance music elements whilst pushing the boundaries of his sound."

It's finally out!

It's a beautiful release from the 8-piece London band that really holds the listener in from start to finish! Definitely recommend getting your ears around this one asap!

Electro-jazz pioneers The Comet Is Coming have announced a new album, 'Hyper-Dimensional Extension Beam' due out September 23 via Impulse! Records

The release was created during a four-day session at Peter Gabriel’s Real World Studios, and it follows on their 2019 companion releases 'Trust in the Lifeforce of the Deep Mystery' and 'The Afterlife'. The trio of Danalogue (aka synth player and producer Dan Leavers), Shabaka (saxophone, the one and only), and Betamax (drummer and producer Max Hallett).

The first single released from the album is out now called “Code.”
