A bit about me...

I am a Texas veteran, retired from the Information Technology sector.

I started my wildflower journey in 1998. I self-published my Hunting Texas Wildflowers book in 2005. My wildflower photos have been featured in local media and once on a major national morning TV show. I am not a botanist nor a biologist, but I completed the Texas Master Naturalist certification.

I am not "religious", but I have a strong faith in a Loving God. I am happy to share my testimony with anyone who wants to hear it. My life verse is Revelation 3:20. My life hymn is "In the Garden" and my life song is "I Hope You Dance." My life prayer is that we all learn to love one another, before we end up destroying this world.

I still vote and strongly support freedom and democracy for which I served to protect. That said, I am not political. I judge a candidate through the filter of 1 John, especially 1 John 4. I am a believer not an activist. I am a child of God, but by far not a perfect one.

My RichO Creative page is my creative outlet where I can post anything my creative side wants to post from photos to poems to stories. I poke fun at myself from time to time...it's just my dry wit.

I recently published Hunting Texas Wildflowers 2024, an updated version of my original print book. This time due mostly to costs, I used the eBook format.

The new Hunting Texas Wildflowers 2024 eBook has 28 sample route photos with dates and locations for each and 30 photos of common Texas wildflowers with links to more information for each wildflower. It can be used to find spring, summer and fall wildflowers in Texas.

The eBook is constructed around four regions (Brenham, Ennis, Texas Hill Country, and South Central). Nine cities can be used as a home base from which you can take day trips, visit parks and other interesting stops, and travel nearby wildflower routes. I have traveled each route in the past 25 years, and they are some of the top routes in the four regions. The nine home base cities are:
• Austin
• Brenham
• Burnet (includes Marble Falls)
• Ennis (includes locations in the DFW area)
• Fredericksburg
• Johnson City
• Llano
• Mason
• San Antonio
Other locations nearby to the above nine cities in each region are also included such as Cuero, Lockhart and Kerrville.

I have included links to county maps for each of the nine potential home bases. You can download and print out the maps you need for your wildflower adventures. When I started my wildflower journey, I carried a bag of printed country maps. These were essential in helping me find some of those less traveled roads. County maps can also show some very interesting locations. I have also included a link to download and use Google Maps offline with GPS.

Over 40 parks and stops are listed where you can find wildflowers, enjoy a fun experience, or grab a bite to eat. The parks and stops include a few old-style country stores, wineries, and even a cemetery that once was covered in bluebonnets.

Thirty day-trips are included that will take you through areas that have previously yielded spectacular wildflower displays.

Over 30 routes are included that have consistently produced excellent views of wildflowers.

Chapter Two: Becoming Friends

This is chapter two of my upcoming novel. I am releasing it now in hopes of getting a few beta readers. The following must be completed and submitted to me via direct message on this page. You must submit all of the answers to the to the questions below. Once your answers are approved you will be invited to join the private Beta Readers Group. Once in the group, you can help beta read all current and future publications submitted in the group. You will also be able to download 5x7 (1500x2100 pixel) images that were featured in the Hunting Texas Wildflowers 2024 eBook plus others that might be made available at some future date.
