Nexus began as a DJ on WVCP in Gallatin, TN in 2001, playing various forms of electronic music on the air waves while a student at Vol State. In 2002, Nexus transferred to MTSU and began DJing at WMTS in Murfreesboro, TN. The first show there featured electroclash, a niche genre of electronic music at the time. An ambient music show was done the following semester, and a very eclectic show for the
final semesters. After college, Nexus moved to east Tennessee and lived as a traveling environmental and social justice activist for a decade, predominantly in the mountains, valleys and streams of Appalachia. Shortly after moving back to middle Tennessee, while dining at the Wild Cow in east Nashville and perusing the Nashville Scene magazine, Nexus read the story of WXNA rising from the ashes of WRVU and it brought tears to the eyes. So much great music had been discovered by Nexus from listening to WRVU back in the day, and here comes WXNA with even better programming! Now Nexus has a show on WXNA, using music to spread the mysticism that has been an interest, a practice and a saving grace for so long.
