My husband and I recently watched "The Earthing Movie," and it was a total game-changer! The idea of grounding made so much sense, so we decided to give it a try—and I'm loving it! It's such a grounding experience (pun intended 😉), bringing me a sense of calm. Plus, it's worked wonders on my headaches—twice for me and once for my husband.

I enjoy sitting outside in the crisp morning air, listening to the birds, watching my dogs play, and sipping on my matcha latte. Evening grounding sessions are the perfect way to wind down.

I'm a bit curious about how to keep this up when the weather changes, but I'm ready to do some research and find out!

🌍 What is Grounding/Earthing? 🌍

Grounding means making direct contact with the Earth's surface, like walking barefoot on grass, sand, or soil. This connects you with the Earth’s natural energy.

How to Ground Yourself

Walk Barefoot: Kick off your shoes and feel the grass, sand, or soil.

Sit or Lie on the Ground: Have a picnic or sunbathe directly on the Earth.

Use Grounding Equipment: If you're indoors, try special mats, sheets, or bands.

Benefits of Grounding/Earthing

Reduces Inflammation: Direct contact with the Earth’s electrons can help reduce inflammation and pain.

Improves Sleep: Many people find they sleep better after grounding, as it helps regulate your natural sleep rhythms.

Boosts Mood: Spending time connected to nature can enhance your mood and reduce stress levels.

Enhances Energy Levels: Feel more energized and refreshed by aligning with the Earth’s natural energy.

Grounding is a simple and natural way to boost your wellness. Give it a try and feel the Earth’s benefits!

☀️Have you tried Kin Euphorics’ Actual Sunshine yet? I just had it for the first time on vacay and it’s great! Seriously, it's packed with these cool ingredients like nootropics and adaptogens that boost your mood and mental clarity.

What’s really great is that it gives you this steady, happy, sunny energy without the crash you get from coffee or sugary drinks. I can see drinking it before my morning workout or as a refreshing beverage in the afternoon for a little extra boost.

And honestly, it's a fabulous alternative to alcohol. Sometimes you just want something special to sip on without the buzz (or the hangover!). I’m definitely going to buy some when I get home. You should check it out. Cheers to feeling great and staying balanced! ☀️

Mocktail Monday: The Pink Swan🦢

I enjoyed this delish mocktail while on vacation in Scottsdale last week at . This was a super cute, very pink place with yummy food and great drinks including this fabulous mocktail. They are decorated in all pink, lots of flowers all over the walls and ceilings and even had pink pasta. It's a cute place to go to in the area.

I don't have the measurements of the ingredients so will have to play around and see if I can recreate this at home. 🦢

Sweet Saturday: Pineapple Whip Ice Cream 🍍

Okay, this kitchen appliance is not a necessity, but it is absolutely amazing!! I made the best no-guilt, high-protein pineapple whip ice cream in our Ninja Creami. You do need to think ahead a bit since you have to freeze your liquids first. Another tip is to get extra pints so you can always have ice cream ready to be made.

Everyone in the family can customize their own treats, and you can tweak the ingredients to make them healthy and fit into any nutrition plan you follow. So fabulous!!

For my pineapple whip ice cream, I used oat milk, a bit of 100% pineapple juice, frozen pineapple bits, and pineapple protein powder (I use Transform). Then I blended and froze overnight. Next afternoon I put it in the Creami, and it made delish, high-protein ice cream. 🍨

This is an appliance you’ll use all summer long! The possibilities with this machine are endless.

Fact Friday: From Buzzy to Fuzzy

Ever wonder how alcohol turns your brain from buzzy to fuzzy? Let’s break it down in simple terms, promise!

GABA: Think of GABA as your brain’s chill pill. It’s the chemical that helps you unwind and feel relaxed. When you sip on a drink, alcohol cranks up the GABA action, making you even more relaxed.

Glutamate: This one’s like your brain’s energy drink. It keeps you sharp and alert. But when alcohol comes into play, it slows down the glutamate, kind of putting the brakes on your brain’s hyperactivity.

So, what happens when GABA goes up and glutamate takes a chill pill? Your whole brain slows down.

At first, you get that nice buzz—feeling relaxed and maybe a bit giggly. But if you keep going, things can get a bit fuzzier.

One or Two Drinks: You’re feeling relaxed, sociable, still in the groove. Conversations flow, activities are fun, and you’re enjoying the moment with just a hint of buzz.

Four or Five Drinks: Now things start getting fuzzy.

Conversations: Harder to follow, maybe losing your train of thought.

Surroundings: It’s like you’re there, but not really there.

Self-Perception: Ever felt like you’re watching yourself from outside your body? That’s dissociation, feeling detached from your own emotions and actions.

And the next day? Get ready for the aftermath:

Mental Fog: Waking up groggy, struggling to think straight.

Emotional Hangover: Feeling disconnected, maybe a bit anxious or moody.

Memory Blips: Trying to piece together what happened last night.

While a little buzz can be okay, too much can leave you feeling spaced out. It’s all about knowing your limits and how alcohol affects you.

Understanding this stuff helps you make smarter choices for your well-being, both today and tomorrow.

Trust Yourself Thursday

Building self-trust starts with keeping promises to yourself, no matter how small. Here's why it’s crucial and how you can start:

Why Keeping Promises to Yourself Matters:

Builds Self-Respect: Every promise you keep is a testament to your respect and value for yourself. When you follow through, you reinforce your worth and integrity.

Boosts Confidence: Keeping promises, even small ones, builds your confidence. Each commitment you honor is proof that you can rely on yourself.

Creates Consistency: Small wins create a pattern of success and reliability. This consistency is the foundation of trust, both in yourself and in others.

How to Start Keeping Promises to Yourself:

Start Small: Begin with small, manageable promises. This could be something as simple as drinking enough water each day, going for a daily walk, or spending 10 minutes journaling.

Be Specific: Make your promises clear and specific. Instead of saying "I'll exercise more," commit to "I'll take a 15-minute walk every morning."

Write It Down: Write your promises in a journal or planner. Seeing them in writing makes them feel more concrete and helps hold you accountable.

High-Five Yourself: Start your day with a positive affirmation by high-fiving yourself in the mirror, as Mel Robbins suggests. It’s a simple yet powerful way to boost your morale and set a positive tone for the day.

Be Consistent: Consistency is key. Make a habit of keeping your promises. Even on tough days, showing up for yourself is essential.

Celebrate Wins: Acknowledge and celebrate every promise you keep. This reinforces your commitment and boosts your morale.

Reflect and Adjust:

Reflect Regularly: Take time to reflect on your progress.

Acknowledge the promises you’ve kept and learn from the ones you didn’t.

Adjust as Needed: It’s okay to adjust your promises. If something isn’t working, change it to something more achievable.

Remember: “Every action you take is a vote for the person you wish to become.” ~James Clear

Building self-trust is a journey, and every step counts.

What’s one promise you’re making to yourself today? How do you plan to keep it?

Wow! What a great segment on Good Morning America this morning on the World Health Organization's 300-page report on alcohol use.

Key takeaways for me:

Alcohol has been classified as a class 1 carcinogen known to cause cancer on par with asbestos and to***co.

There is no safe amount especially for women. Less than 1 drink per day is associated with a 15% increase of breast cancer.

LOVED this quote from Dr. Jennifer Ashton!

"Personally, I'm trying to do so much for my health, take so many steps to benefit my well-being, why would I do anything that can only cause harm even in small amounts"?

Exactly!!
YES!!!

ABC News' Dr. Jennifer Ashton breaks down a new report from the World Health Organization that finds 2.6 million deaths worldwide were attributable to alcohol consumption in 2019.

🧰 Toolbox Tuesday 🧰

What is "Play the Tape Forward"? It’s a mental exercise where you project the future consequences of taking that first drink. By imagining the entire sequence of events, you can make a more informed decision that aligns with your goals and values.

Step-by-Step Guide:

1. Pause and Reflect: When you feel the urge to drink, take a moment to stop and breathe.

2. Visualize the Immediate Aftermath: Imagine having that first drink. How does it taste? How do you feel in that moment?

3. Question Your Intention: Ask yourself if you’re really going to have just this one drink, or if it will lead to more than you’re intending. Be honest.

4. Extend the Scenario: Picture yourself continuing to drink. How many drinks will you have? How does your behavior and choices change?

5. Consider the Consequences: Think about the end of the night. Are you engaged or zoning out? Saying or doing things you regret? Missing out on meaningful interactions?

6. Project into the Next Day: Visualize waking up the next morning. Do you feel hungover, regretful, anxious, or unproductive? Are you missing important commitments or feeling disappointed in yourself?

7. Evaluate Your Feelings: Reflect on how you would feel about these outcomes. Are they worth it? How do they compare to your alcohol-free goals?

Why It Works:

• Increases Awareness: Helps you see beyond the immediate gratification of drinking.

• Empowers Decisions: Encourages conscious, deliberate choices that align with your values.

• Reduces Regret: Prevents the negative consequences associated with impulsive drinking.

Real-Life Application: Imagine you’re at a social event and feeling the pressure to drink. Use "Play the Tape Forward" to mentally walk through the night. You might see yourself enjoying the moment without alcohol, waking up the next day refreshed, and feeling proud of your decision. This positive reinforcement can help you stay strong in your commitment.

Every time you use this tool, you strengthen your resolve and move closer to your alcohol-free goals.

Remember, it's about making choices that honor your future self. 💪

Have You Outgrown Alcohol?

Have you ever felt like your relationship with alcohol just isn't the same anymore? Maybe you've outgrown it! Here are some signs it might be time to rethink your drink:

Health First 🌱
You're more focused on your health and wellness. Alcohol just doesn’t fit into your new self-care lifestyle.

Craving Clarity 🧘‍♀️
You value mental clarity and emotional stability more than ever. Alcohol often leaves you feeling foggy and out of sync.

Social Preferences 💬
You enjoy deeper, more meaningful conversations and connections. The superficial buzz of alcohol doesn’t quite cut it anymore.

New Hobbies 🎨
You're passionate about new activities that don’t revolve around drinking. Whether it's fitness, art, or exploring nature, your interests have evolved.

Energy Boost 🌟
You love waking up refreshed and ready to take on the day. No more sluggish mornings or hangovers holding you back!

Just like changing up a food or habit that no longer serves you, it’s okay to evolve and change your relationship with alcohol. Embrace your growth and celebrate the new you! 💪✨

Last night we had a literal boatload of kids over. It was so amazing to see them having fun off their phones, without alcohol, actually being in the moment and living their beautiful lives.

It got me thinking. A few years ago when we decided to be an alcohol free home I never realize that it would also limit access to alcohol for young people. It feels so reassuring to know that they could pick up my glass at any time and take a drink from it and only find good choices in it.

They can go to the mini bar at any time and find drinks that they don’t have to make compromises for. Zero temptations just opportunities to protect their developing brains and make many amazing memories.

Letting kids be kids.

As the day winds down and the weekend nears, it's so tempting to reward ourselves with that well-deserved glass of wine, isn't it? After all, it's marketed as a symbol of relaxation, indulgence, and a way to unwind after facing the challenges of a long day. But what if we hit pause for just a moment to dig a little deeper and explore the underlying reasons behind our desire for wine at day's end?

Consider why that glass of wine calls to you. Maybe it's because we've been conditioned to believe that a glass of wine is the perfect treat after a hard day's work. Or perhaps it's a means of momentarily escaping from the stresses and pressures of our daily lives; it signals the end of the day and offers a way to tune out the busyness around us.

But what if there's a different way? What if, instead of automatically reaching for the corkscrew, we listened to our bodies, honored our needs, and nourished ourselves in a way that goes beyond the superficial comforts of alcohol?

Let's challenge ourselves to explore other choices:

🩵 Take time to make a nourishing homemade meal.
🩵 Indulge in a long, soothing bath.
🩵 Take a leisurely walk while listening to music, a podcast, or a great book.
🩵 Spend quality time with loved ones.
🩵 Get in a good sweat sesh - lift heavy weights, go for a run.
🩵 Cozy up with a blanket and dive into a good book or magazine.
🩵 Tend to some yard work or gardening.
🩵 Call or meet up with a friend for a catch-up, or take a walk together.
🩵 Sip on a flavorful herbal tea or mocktail.
🩵 Pop a big bowl of popcorn and cuddle up with a loved one to watch your favorite show together.

There are countless ways to relax and unwind that don't involve alcohol, offering ourselves the love and appreciation we deserve after a long day.

By reframing our mindset and prioritizing genuine self-care, we can cultivate a deeper sense of well-being and fulfillment in our lives. So let's raise a glass – not of wine, but of gratitude for the opportunity to take good care of ourselves, inside and out. Here's to self-love, self-discovery, and the journey toward a more fulfilling life!

What's your favorite way to unwind? What would you add to this list?

Happy Friday!! I was thinking about something I read this morning that really hit home and wanted to share it with you.

Real change isn't about the grand gestures you see in movies. It’s not the Hollywood montage of becoming a 6am workout guru or swearing off fast food forever. True transformation is a subtle dance, happening in the quiet moments between thought and action.

It's all in that conversation we have with ourselves before hitting snooze, reaching for that glass of wine, or surrendering to the drive-thru temptation. Our inner voice, sometimes a bit of a mean girl, sells us on the next move. The story comes first, and then the action follows suit.

Picture that sneaky inner voice saying, 'You deserve that glass of wine tonight!' or 'Skipping the gym just this once won't hurt.' It's like our brain has a knack for excuses!

The magic lies in catching that inner dialogue and questioning, 'Does this thought help me level up?' Pause the excuse mid-flight, redirect your thinking, and watch your choices transform. The secret sauce is in the mental shifts preceding the external ones.

It's not about brute willpower or teeth-gritting determination in the moment. It's the internal reconditioning, the work we do way before the pivotal seconds. When I quit drinking 5 years ago, I had to intercept my inner voice making excuses and replace them with cheers for my growth. Left unchecked, that self-talk heads in the way wrong direction.

But guess what? We can rewire our mindset with awareness. Pay attention to those self-negotiations, rewrite kinder scripts over time, and watch things change.

The accumulation of these tiny mindset moments is where change truly begins – calling out disempowering self-talk and pivoting to something more empowering.

Let's dive into that inner work; it's what matters most! Does this resonate? Share your lightbulb moments or share how you turn off your inner mean girl dialogue when she wants to be in control.

Well here we are 2024! We have no idea what surprises this shiny new year has in store, but no matter what happens, we get to intentionally write our OWN story! 📝✨

I don't know about you, but I woke up this morning feeling hopeful and SO excited by the endless possibilities ahead these next 12 months! It's time to be purposeful about living fully present and as our best selves daily. 💫

Now, if you're starting 2024 a bit foggy headed from however you celebrated NYE, I've totally been there! But here's the thing - today marks a fresh start that sets the tone for the YEAR. This can be the last fuzzy morning! 😆

My encouragement is that it's NEVER too late to implement changes like curbing alcohol consumption, exercising more consistently, nourishing your mental health. You have the power to grow!

Staying closely connected in this community and taking things one day at a time is key. Getting uncomfortable is how big shifts happen.

You deserve to show up fully as your best self for yourself and loved ones, not numbed out or distracted. We get to write our OWN story in 2024. Let's make it count. 🩵

I hope the holiday frenzy has settled down and you’re enjoying some restful days with loved ones. Personally, I’ve enjoyed staying in my pajamas rocking the couch crease. The down time was seriously needed! 😜

While I’m holding down the couch, I have been putting the finishing touches on our workbook that we’ll use to keep track of all of our goals during our 75 days together. I love marking off days and putting check marks next to completed daily tasks.

I’m SO excited to start our 75-day journey together on January 1st, feeling refreshed and ready to crush those goals! 💪🏼

I wanted to chat about how to prep so you feel set up for success when day 1 drops:

🔹 Nutrition - decide if you’ll follow a program or simply implement healthier habits. Maybe cut out inflammatory foods, meal prep, or prioritize protein and increase fruits/veggies. Do what works for YOU!

🔹 Fitness - Yoga? HIIT? Walking? Classes at the gym or online? Pick what you enjoy so it’s sustainable long-term. I have plenty of free programs and YouTube channels I can share with you if you need any inspiration.🏋️‍♀️

🔹 Personal growth - grab a pretty new journal (or if you’re like me you have plenty laying around) and some self-help books that make your soul sing! Tiffany and I have fab recommendations if you need any. 📚 We’ll share those with you.

🔹 Hydration - snag a trendy water bottle to carry everywhere (like you do with your phone), like those retro Stanley ones. Helps increase H20 intake by reminding you to sip! 💧

🔹 Mindset - start noting when/why you reach for alcohol and rewiring thought patterns. We’ll talk more about this - the mental work is key! 🧠 This might be the toughest part if you haven’t ever done a no alcohol challenge or are not alcohol-free already. We will come in and talk more about this specifically with you, but you’ll want to stock up on fabulous naked beverages. Start with flavorful seltzer waters. There’s so many out there to choose from.

We’re here to support YOU every step of the way!

Our Story

Hi, I'm Christina. This is a real, authentic and unapologetic page about inspiring women to intentionally create and live their best life every single day. It's about learning how to get over ourselves, get out of our own way and just do the damn thing.

This page is for those of us looking to connect and motivate each other on our journey to a healthy mind, body and spirit while keeping up with our busy lifestyles. You can listen to my new podcast at: https://anchor.fm/happy-fit-and-naked
