REMEMBERING THE ICONIC ANGIE STONE: Mardi Gras in Mobile, Alabama is overshadowed by the tragic death of award-winning recording artist TThe Angie Stone

Her very last performance was held in Downtown Mobile as Stone officially kicked off The 2025 Carnival Season.

The legendary singer died on the morning of March 1st, 2025, in a fatal car accident. She and members of her band were heading back to Atlanta from a gig that took place the night before in Mobile, AL. when an 18-wheeler truck struck Stone’s sprinter and causing it to flip three times. Angie was declared deceased at the scene of the accident.

"Never in a million years did we ever expect to get this horrible news. Our mom is and will always be our everything. We are still trying to process and are completely heartbroken," Diamond Stone and Michael Archer. (Angie Stone's children).

“We are truly devastated at this unexpected and unfortunate tragedy, and there are simply no words to express how we feel,” shares Walter Millsapp III (Angie’s longtime Manager). "No no no, I could not believe it when I received the call that the most beautiful soul, is now gone. I am completely heartbroken, we loved so many of the same things and people. I put her on the phone with Chaka Khan a bunch of times for them to laugh about the old days, and Chaka who is a big fan, loved her very much. The Angie I knew was always a beam of light and super positive, her contribution to Hip-hop and R&B is cemented in our collective consciousness," Claude Villani - CEO of SRG-ILS Group.

Angie Stone is survived by her two children, Diamond Stone and Michael Archer, grandchildren, family members and adoring fans across the globe.

The official press release from The Blanco Agency for The SRG Group stated the family thanks her millions of fans worldwide and ask for privacy during these difficult times.

Angie Stone's iconic voice will be remembered for years to come. Condolences to the bereaved family!

MOBILE'S OWN: Celebrating Henry "Hammerin Hank" Aaron on the 50th anniversary of becoming baseball’s all-time home run king. April 8, 1974, the Atlanta Braves slugger broke his tie with Babe Ruth to become the sport’s lead in career home runs when he hit his 715th career home run.

The historic crown bestowed to baseball’s all-time home run king was transferred from one former Braves player to another when Henry Louis Aaron broke his four-day tie with George Herman Ruth by lofting a ball over the outfield fence for his 715th career home run and in doing so became a baseball immortal.

Before he ever made it to "The A," as a little girl my father and all the other men in my family shared stories of Henry Aaron growing up in Mobile, Alabama. It was mind blowing to know a man who had achieved such greatness lived in a small neighborhood called Toluminville, just a few miles from my family's front door.

Though he had a brief stint in the Negro League, Hank Aaron ultimately transcended racial lines, living up to the integrity and ethics his family bestowed upon him when he was a child in Alabama.
