Thousands of years have passed but Aesop's fables remain as accurate as ever. The Dog & His Reflection perfectly illustrates our greatest weakness in the current political landscape.

So-called "progressives" that claim Labor is just like the LNP aren't interested in seeing a government deliver real results. They'd rather throw it all away in favour of empty promises and ideological purity than accept that Labor is doing everything they can with what they've got.

Often they'll justify their criticism behind the veil of 'preferential voting' but there's a fine line between preferring a minor party (which is absolutely fine) & actively contributing to the opposition's campaign tactic of 'death by a thousand cuts'.

From renewables, public & social housing, wage growth, multinational taxation to investment in tertiary education & bulk-billing incentives; Labor has achieved more in 2 years than the LNP had in 9. It's time to stop the lie and give some credit where credit's due.

So-called "progressives" dreaming of unrealistic & unachievable solutions sold by populists who bear no responsibility to govern will put genuine progress at risk as they attempt to undermine the one government that knows what it takes to deliver real results for the people. That's a privilege that the vulnerable don't have.

Australians are too smart to fall for these Liberal Snake Oil Salesmen tactics. Dutton has no plan to help everyday Australians.

First Crisafulli copies one of Albo's housing policies and then it turns out his local candidate is against. You can't be divided on housing.

Labor creates a national mining tax.
The Liberals abolish it.
Labor creates Medicare
The Liberals dismantle it.
Labor creates Superannuation
The Liberals raid it.
Labor creates NDIS.
The Liberals corrupt it.
Labor creates better workers' rights.
The Liberals undermine them.
Labor creates more public housing.
The Liberals sell it off.
Labor creates national assets.
The Liberals privatise them.

The pattern doesn't change. The Liberals have shown their true colours time & time again. Past actions are the best indicator of future behaviour. Honestly, only a fool would make that same mistake again.

The Noalition strikes again. I don't think anyone's surprised to see the LNP & One Nation take a stand against supporting renters but disappointment is growing within Greens supporters as they continue to block support for renters to become home-owners with the Albanese government's Help to Buy Scheme.

Followed by excuses like...

🤷 "but Help to Buy will increase prices"
- No, it won't increase property prices. Not only is it only for owner occupied properties, it's capped at very modest prices and accounts for less than 2% of all sold properties. To blame low income earners for increasing property prices is akin to blaming minimum wage increases for rampant inflation.

🤷 "it doesn't help enough people"
- Just because a policy doesn't help everyone doesn't mean it's not beneficial. It'll change the lives of at least 40,000 families in the first 4 years and can be expanded as supply increases. In the long term it will help hundreds of thousands of families become home-owners.

🤷 "it doesn't address the underlying problems of the housing market"
- it's not meant to. It's targeted support for long term renters to become home-owners. It provides greater stability than social housing and incentivises the creation of new supply. Judging the Help to Buy Scheme on its ability to address the underlying problems of the housing market is like judging a fish for its ability to ride a bike. Not being a panacea to the housing crisis isn't a valid reason to block a policy.

🤷 And my favourite & least logical "we're going to make Labor freeze rents first"
- No, you're not going to make the federal government freeze rents. It's unconstitutional. That's a discussion that needs to happen at a state level. How are the Greens in politics if they can't even grasp the basics?

This isn't negotiating. This is just acting in bad faith. It's time for the Greens to put people before politics.

Dutton was declared by doctors to be the worst health minister in the last 35 years. This was largely in response to his GP co-payment policy & cuts to rebates resulting in a dramatic reduction in bulk-billing rates across the nation. The consequences of his legacy are still felt across the nation today.

Step 1. Identify topic that is both popular with your audience & that Labor has open for review.
Step 2. Create petition.
Step 3. Take credit when Labor finalises review.
Step 4. Cash in on headlines from news media that would rather give credit to anyone but Labor.

I appreciate the Teals for supporting good policy & uprooting seats that may have otherwise been occupied by the Liberals but I'm not going to pretend that they're responsible for results that Labor's delivering.

It's not hard to appear 'productive' when you have no responsibility for governing but can dedicate your time to working on headline-friendly projects.

What do you think?
But Regeneration Media CEO Natalie McKenna said Dr Ryan was in a grey area because the government made the decision to cut HECS debts.
“If she has taken credit for that, that’s not quite truthful,” Dr McKenna said.
“Being an advocate for truth in political advertising, I think it’s a bit of a fine line she’s walking here.
“It doesn’t just get decided by an independent minister, it has to go through a process has and she can take credit for the petition only.
“She’s potentially delving into some reputational issues, so she probably needs to rethink the way she’s communicating.”
Advertising guru Dee Madigan said Dr Ryan was taking credit where it was “not entirely due”.

What does Crisafulli mean when he says that his vision for Queensland is for "the mining industry to be free from a government constantly trying to tax them"?

Who's side is he on? Queensland's? Or the mineral industry fat cats'?

Help make the Help to Buy Scheme a reality. The federal Labor government has been trying to secure additional support for long-term tenants to buy their own home with a 2% deposit.

There's just one problem; the Greens & LNP have joined forces to make sure it doesn't happen. It's time for the Greens-Liberal Noalition to quit playing games and do what's right for renters.

Back in my day.... Lol. Sure, there's no news presenters of his calibre around anymore but...

The news media has never just been reporting things. It has always been about corporate interests ensuring that the organised labour movement never got "too much" power.

Even 15 years ago the bias wasn't as blatant as it is today. Fewer publications had to maintain the trust of a much wider audience. Now we have news media targeted at every possible niche in society so they can afford to be as biased as they wish.

When push comes to shove they'll all still do what's necessary to keep the labour movement in its place. No exceptions.

For the first time in a decade bulk-billing rates are trending in the right direction with an increase of 3.4% since November as a result of the Albanese government's new bulk-billing incentives.

Make no mistake - there's still a lot of progress yet to be made. Recovering from nearly a decade of frozen bulk-billing rates and the cutting of more than $50bn of improvements to our healthcare system isn't going to be an easy feat but we're finally moving in the right direction.

The hypocrisy within the LNP knows no bounds.

Absolutely gutless.

While his mates in Canberra have been blocking our Albanese Government's Help to Buy Scheme, David Crisafulli been silent.

He won't stand up for Queenslanders.

He's all talk, no action.

Well done to South Australia Labor for taking the initiative. It's getting far too easy for cashed up private interests to spend big and parachute candidates into parliament.

Wishing you all the best with overcoming these enormous, legal hurdles and that other states may soon follow suit.

They say imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, in that case Crisafulli just revealed his overwhelming admiration for Albo's Help to Buy Scheme with an inferior copy taking centre stage in his own election campaign.

Under Albo's Help to Buy Scheme home-owners of a 4 bed 2 bath home valued at $700k would be more than $5k better off every year.

Using those extra savings to make additional payments would pay it off 10 years faster and save a whopping $190k in interest.

The numbers speak for themselves. There's no doubt that Albo wins this round. Not only will Albo's scheme help more than 10,000 renters every year but it can be expanded as supply increases.

Queensland LNP are proposing a Shared Equity Scheme for low income home buyers. It's a good policy. So good that they've just taken it directly from Albo. It's a carbon copy of the Albanese government's Help to Buy Scheme. The same policy that the Greens have been blocking since February.

So yet again, while the Greens put politics before people they end up handing an opportunity to the LNP. Helping the LNP take Queensland is a loss for our transition to renewables, it's a loss for public ownership and a loss for the environment.

It's time for the Greens to stop standing in the way of progressive policy and let Labor get on with the job of helping our nation's low income earners.

Labor's everything, apparently.

In Australia's media landscape the only thing that the press has in common is holding Labor to account - as they rightfully should. My only expectation is that they hold everyone to account with the same fervent passion.

One end of the spectrum moonlights as a cheer squad for the corporate capitulating conservatives. The other end neglects to scrutinise the unrealistic proposals and performative gestures of any minor party with a progressive aesthetic. Incredibly, everyone excels at doing their job as a journalist when it comes to Labor.

This is the inevitable relationship between the media and the labour movement as it attempts to reconcile the needs & desires of stakeholders from all walks of life.

Now we live in an era in which digital algorithms dictate what we see & reward outrage with engagement. It's becoming increasingly important to engage with the uneventful, but good news that often goes unseen and undervalued.

Reject outrage, embrace reality.

Albo's holding the line against American culture war sensationalism while conservatives and other minor parties engage in spreading the brain rot to their supporters.

As a political representative of our country it serves no benefit to comment on Trump whether it be in favour or against. There is every possibility that we will still be obliged to work with him if he's elected as POTUS.

Between changes to the stamp duty threshold and the doubling of the First Home Buyers grant, Queenslanders purchasing their first home could save nearly $50,000.

It's time for the Greens to put people before politics. The Greens continue to block targeted support to help perpetual renters buy their own home.

As housing supply increases, Help to Buy can be expanded to meet demand and help tens of thousands of Australian renters every year to finally own their own home, providing greater security & stability than public or social housing.

I appreciate that we all have different opinions, that's part of being a democracy.

I just don't appreciate dishonesty in an effort to deceive well-meaning Queenslanders.
