PUBLIC SAFETY PRESENCE AT PARK HIGH SCHOOL IS ONLY A DRILL.

The high school is a designated reception center in case anyone would need to evacuate in the unlikely event of a radiological release at the Prairie Island Nuclear Generating Plant near Red Wing.

Tonight’s Radiological Emergency Preparedness Drill helps us practice our roles while setting up operations. It’s always good to be prepared just in case!

Near Vermillion: Structure fire. 203XX Northfield Blvd. Officers reporting a working fire inside the garage with heavy smoke. All occupants are out of the residence.

South Saint Paul: Fatal crash. Concord & Chestnut St. Head on collision with one reportedly trapped. CPR is in progress. State Patrol has been requested for reconstruction. Concord is shut down; find alternate routes.

** SSP PD says a minivan crossed into oncoming lanes and struck a pickup truck head on. Both occupants of the minivan sustained critical injuries and one was later pronounced deceased. The driver of the pickup suffered serious injuries.

One person was taken into custody on probable cause criminal vehicular operation and police believe alcohol was a factor.

Oakdale: Double fatal head on crash. SB 694 N of 15th St. N. State Patrol was initially notified of a wrong way driver. Multiple injured; One with possible agonal breathing, one ejected with severe lacerations to the neck and one child unconscious. 694 is shut down for reconstruction. Video cut for obvious reasons.

** Child is being transported to local hospital. Fire crews checking on helicopter availability and performing an extended extraction.

** Helicopter is en route; crews will be establishing a landing zone on the highway. A 4th ambulance has been started to the scene for a 3rd vehicle involved in this crash.

** Life Link helicopter is on scene and fire crews have completed extricating the patient.

** Crews reporting CPR in progress on the wrong way driver.

West Saint Paul: Structure fire. 12XX Robert St. Officers reporting flames through the roof. Fire crews have heavy fire on the 2nd floor and have requested a 2nd alarm. All occupants are evacuated.

**Crews have the fire knocked down and are working on a primary search. This is reported to be a residential building connected to a commercial structure.

South Saint Paul: Fatal vehicle vs pedestrian. Concord & Linden St. Officers are reporting the patient has agonal breathing and have shut down Concord in both directions. State Patrol started for reconstruction.

** The victim was transported to the hospital where he was pronounced deceased.

Hastings: Technical rescue. Vermillion Falls Park. 17-year-old hit in the head by a falling rock & is bleeding. Crews are attempting to locate the patient down at the base of the cliffs. Special Operations Team started for rope rescue.

**Crews are with the patient who appears to be oriented enough to make a climb.

**Command canceling incoming units; patient is up on ground level.

Mendota Heights: Structure fire. Hingham Circle. Crews reporting a working fire on the back side of the home. All occupants evacuated.

** Crews have a knock on the fire which appears to mostly be on the exterior; still have heavy smoke that is believed to be coming from the attic.

** Firefighters believe the fire originated on the deck and extended into the kitchen from the window. Fire is knocked down and crews are continuing to search for further extension.

AIR ALERT: A statewide air quality alert has been issued as air quality is expected to worsen heading into the evening before clearing Friday morning. A band of heavy smoke from wildfires in Canada is moving along a cold front into our area. The smoke will continue to move south and east, eventually impacting the entire state. The smoke should clear rapidly overnight and into Friday morning.

Red areas in the map below are considered with "unhealthy" air quality. In areas where air quality is in the red AQI category due to wildfires, the sky may look hazy and people with respiratory conditions should stay inside.

Lakeville: Crews were dispatched at 9:15pm for a structure fire after a computer reportedly “blew up” in the basement at 100XX 161st St. W. Command reported a working fire on the lower level and interior crews had the fire knocked down by 9:30pm.

Occupants were able to evacuate and firefighters attempted to catch two cats that were running around inside the structure.

Lake Elmo: Injury crash. EB 36 & Lake Elmo Ave. 2 vehicles involved, one patient reporting neck pain.
