The Jamaican Archery team is set to make their debut today, September 5, 2022, in the Caribbean Development Championships in the Dominican Republic. The team which consists of 7 male players (including their para archer) and only one female player had their last training session on Sunday, September 4, 2022, at the Jamaica Rifle Association. After concluding the ‘training session’, the team shared a spirit of optimism and confidence going into the regional competition.
For several of them, the journey to Archery began as an outlet for passing the time during the pandemic and inevitably led to them falling in love with what they describe as a very intense and focus-driven sport. Apart from winning medals, the players are looking forward to having fun, networking and gaining further experience and exposure. They are motivated to continue by their dreams of one day representing the island at the Olympic games and continue to be inspired by their remarkable growth and the continued support from those within and outside of the local Archery community.
