Four Students of Secondary School in Port Harcourt To Represent Nigeria At World Tech Summit In USA.
A team of four JSS2 students from Jacobs Well High School Jacobswellschools located at Rumuodomaya in Port Harcourt will be attending this year’s World Technovision Girls Challenge, in the United States of America.
The JSS2 students named Oghenemaro Tejiri (12years), Salome Akhabhau (11 years), Excel Barile-Nwika (11 years) and Goodness Nwonanne-Chima (12 years) secured a spot to represent Nigeria at the finals that will be holding in Silicon Valley, California on October 15 and 19, 2024.
They made it to the finals of Technovision Girls Challenge because they developed an android application named AgriConnect, an app connecting farmers, nearby landowners, and seedling sellers.
The girls were able to build AgriConnect under the mentorship of the school's tech consultant, Mr. Somkenechukwu Mamah.
AgriConnect app was among the 3,200 android applications developed by about 11,000 girls from 69 countries, including the USA, UK, Japan, China, Canada, and Spain.

Speaking on the development, coordinator and proprietor of the school, Mrs Egondu Jacob said it is a very great news that the students were putting Rivers State, the Niger Delta and Nigeria on the list of nations of the world whose students are outstanding in apps developments at a very young age.
“We are optimistic that greater achievements are on the way and Nigeria and Africa would be made proud through the achievements of our students" she said
