The (IV) flow rate is conventionally controlled by adjusting the drip clamp in administering agents to patients in natural dripping. However, various factors, including the characteristics of solutions or agents, various circumstantial changes in patients, and environmental factors, extensively influence the IV flow rate accuracy in actual clinical settings, which may affect the safety in infusion management. This study evaluates if the new drop counters using IoT technology could secure accurate and drip counts by conducting actual flow rate measurements using gravimetry and evaluating the drop count function.

As an alternative to randomly sampling large groups of people to track disease incidence at significant cost, (WBE) is a well-established and cost-effective technique to passively measure the prevalence of disease in communities without requiring invasive testing and can also be used as a forecasting tool since the virus is shed in individuals prior to developing symptoms that might otherwise prompt testing. This study evaluates the efficacy of the WBE technique as an early warning prediction tool by comparing the WBE outcomes from weekly surveillance monitoring the SARS-CoV-2 levels in raw wastewater sampled from sewer lift stations at a large public university campus setting including dormitories, academic buildings, and athletic facilities and the number of confirmed infected cases documented after seven days of wastewater sampling.

The anterolateral thigh (ALT) flap is a popular flap in head and neck reconstruction, with multiple advantages including minimal donor site morbidity, a large skin paddle, and a long vascular pedicle with good caliber which can facilitate vessel anastomosis. However, the main disadvantage of the ALT flap is the variability in vasculature, which may result in inadequate or non-existent perforators or the need to change the design of the flap during the harvest. This work conducts a retrospective review to identify patients who underwent reconstruction with available preoperative positron emission tomography ( ) scans to investigate the efficacy of this imaging modality for identifying the location and characteristics of skin perforators to the ALT flap.

This study uses immature human cerebellar PNET2 cells to assess independent and additive effects of thiamine deficiency on ethanol-mediated neurotoxicity, mitochondrial dysfunction, insulin resistance, inhibition of neuronal and glial genes, and oxidative stress.
