Caring can be rewarding but it can also feel heavy at times. Tuatha Men’s Support Group offers a safe space for carers, dads, brothers and male family members to come together.

👉 Share a story, listen to others or simply sit in the company of men who understand.
👉 Different journeys but common ground , challenges, victories, worries and hopes.
👉 Your presence matters, your voice matters.

Please spread the word to anyone who might benefit from a circle of understanding and support.

The north side of the pier is a cherished iconic part of the town and I’ve been in touch with the relevant Council department for an update on the contractor storage compound beside the sewerage treatment plant.

This area needs to be cleared and access restored to the pier. As many know, even though it’s just across the width of the river, the fishing here is very different from the south side. A quite place to sit and ponder for a while.

Right now, people are walking along the top of the rock armour, which isn’t suitable or safe. I’ll keep pushing for this to be resolved.

🍂 A Time of Change 🍂

This time of year brings a lot of change for so many in our communities.
Children starting school for the very first time, others moving on to new schools, students waiting on college results, young people stepping out to find their path in work and families everywhere adjusting to new routines.

This can be exciting and joyous but we also know that for some, this is a time of real challenge whether it’s difficulties around securing school places for children, the ongoing pressures of the housing situation or the increasing cost of living. These stresses are real and they can take their toll.

If you’re feeling the weight of it all, please take a moment to pause, give yourself a tap on the back and remember you’re not alone. Even something simple like a few deep breaths, in through the nose and out through the mouth can bring a bit of calm in the middle of the storm.

And if it ever feels overwhelming, don’t be afraid to reach out whether it’s to a local group, a family member or a friend. A simple chat and a listening ear can go a long way.

Let’s keep looking out for each other as a community. Small acts of kindness and support can make a big difference.

Sadly, couldn’t make it to the amazing Fleadh in Wexford this year but there was some consultation. Instead, we found ourselves at a gig in the ancient amphitheatre of Pompeii, beneath the watchful gaze of Mount Vesuvius.

From standing on the rim of Vesuvius 🌋 peering into the sleeping giant that shaped this land to sharing a candlelit meal in a room styled like a Roman villa eating meals from that era and the best of wine 🏆

And then, when night fell…
Under the open sky and the gaze of 2,100-year-old amphitheatre walls, Wardruna wove ancient-inspired tales with modern compassion and healing sensibility. Their music as old as the stones and as fresh as the evening air.
One of humanity’s greatest achievements has always been music, it soothes , energises, consoles , inspires, heals and unites.

Pompeii’s history is marked by tragedy and rebirth. To stand where so much life was once lost and feel the air alive with music and connection was a nice delicate tribute.
It also makes you smile to think this incredible venue was built over 2100 years ago and yet today we struggle to get the basics .

Travel has a way of showing us how varied we are, yet how deeply connected. It broadens our perspectives.

Something for everyone down around the Arklow Harbour today, get out and support if you can. Always a fantastic day.

🚨 Wicklow Forgotten – Again!

Over €125 million has been allocated nationally under the Rural Water Programme (2024–2026).

📍Wicklow? Just €21,250.
That’s 0.03% of the latest €74 million round and nothing from previous rounds.

Counties like Mayo (€20.8M), Donegal (€16.1M), and Clare (€14.7M) received tens of millions , yet we can't get the urgent works in Aughrim or Avoca .

Our communities deserve safe, modern water infrastructure ,not neglect.

I’ll be raising this loud and clear. Wicklow won’t be silenced.

People drive a community and when you have the right support, inclusion becomes possible.

Fair play to the Arklow Geraldines Ballymoney, Arklow Rock Parnells GAA Clubs and Energia for backing this brilliant initiative. These communication boards are more than just signs they're a step towards understanding, acceptance and real belonging.

More boards will follow and the aim is for every community across the district to have access to this vital visual support.

Inclusion isn’t a buzzword ,it’s action. 💬🌍 Agb Pro Arklow Rock Parnells GAA Club

🚨 Arklow Deserves a Community Centre 🚨

Calling on Wicklow County Council to step up and invest in our town’s future.

The former Eir building on Emoclew Road is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to deliver the community centre Arklow has waited far too long for.

With major housing developments on the horizon and a growing population, the time to act is NOW.

👥 Through local engagement, we’ve identified 50+ community groups in need of space.
Some need a permanent base, others just a place to meet but all need support.

This space could house a multi-use theatre and operate as a thriving hub for multiple groups at once. Here's an example what it could offer ( but not limited to) :

🏛️ This space would transform Arklow by providing:
✅ A much-needed multi-use theatre for arts, culture & events ( development potential to the rear of the yard)
✅ Youth drop-in centre and skills training
✅ A neurodivergent support hub with sensory-friendly rooms
✅ Affordable co-working and training facilities
✅ Mental health and wellness spaces
✅ A social enterprise café
✅ Community gardens and green spaces
✅ Meeting rooms for local groups and services

Yes this will take major investment but there are multiple funding avenues available:
Government grants, social enterprise income, community support and EU inclusion funds.
The first step is acquiring the property.

I believe this is a solid investment in Arklow’s future not just for today but for generations to come.

🛠️ We need a developing vision for our town.
📍 2.9 acres of potential.
⏳ Ready to be transformed.
📢 This project already has the support of other elected representatives.

Let’s not let this chance slip away.
More action. Less talk.
