An analysis of what happened with the voting public in last week's presidential election. Key takeaways:
This was the first election in memory where neither candidate played an active role during the primary process.
Trump was able to overcome all of his legal issues because people didn't care about them. Harris was unable to overcome her hard left past because she failed to define herself.
Trump has completely redefined the Republican Party and is in almost total control of it. The GOP is also the dominant political party in the US. That makes Donald Trump the most formidable political figure on the planet.
While the difference in vote totals was somewhat narrow, Trump's victory was both broad and deep. For instance, he not only won all of the swing states, but he won 7 out of the largest 10 states. Win or lose, his vote percentage increased in 48 out of the 50 states.
While there is a gender gap, it was overly focused on by the media and overly relied upon by the Democrats. Importantly, the gap is not expanding but it IS within itself moving to the right. That movement to the right gets more evident as people age.
The Democrats continue to lose the votes of men, the working class, and people of faith because they often ignore and sometimes disdain them.
The Latino vote is completely up for grabs in many areas of the United States.
The conventional wisdom, often mutually agreed upon by the media and the Democrats, was wrong...once again. Instead of conventional wisdom, it's more like errant biased presumptions.
They've spoken. It says a lot.
