The Record Machine is a pioneering, homegrown record label based in Kansas City, Missouri. Mike Russo, Richard Robinett, and Nathan Reusch founded TRM in 2003 when we released our first record. In the 12 years since, we have gone on to release over 50 albums. Our roster averages 10-12 bands from across the United States. In 2013 The Record Machine added current team members Alex Ellis and Steven E

rvay. Our goal is to make an organic community of artists and help connect them with listeners. Tim Finn of The Kansas City Star remarked about The Record Machine’s output “[They] have assembled a stable of diverse artists who are making music that deserves national attention.”

In 2011 we co-founded and curated the inaugural Ink’s Middle of The Map Music Fest in our hometown of Kansas City, MO. The festival has featured artists like fun., Grizzly Bear, Iron & Wine, of Montreal, The Get Up Kids, Atmosphere, OK Go, Lord Huron, Shiner, Kate Nash, Two Door Cinema Club, Daniel Johnston, and many more. The festival has also grown to include Ink’s Middle of the Map Forum (a civic minded arts, tech, culture conference) and Ink’s Middle of the Map Film Fest (5 days of independent films at Alamo Drafthouse). In four years the event has cemented a place in Kansas City culture. In a recent Kansas City Business Journal article Mayor Sly James remarked, “[Middle of the Map] is a great way for Kansas City to show off and, more specifically, showcase our flourishing arts and culture scene. Events like Middle of the Map Fest bring crowds of people to our city who often times leave in awe of everything Kansas City has to offer.”

Indoor Creature is back with a slow burner single in Lost Time today, It's more than just a love song; it's a journey told from a future perspective, reflecting on the beginnings of a now-established relationship. The lyrics explore the inner dialogue, the nerves, and the contemplation that accompany the decision to reveal one's true feelings. Indoor Creature draws inspiration from those hazy, sun-drenched days when everything is new and emotions run high.

Eyelid Kid is the melodic alter ego of musician/actor Paul Addison. Addison turns moments of desperation, fading relationships, and crumbling foundations into something sonic and resonant. His brand new single Inertia is out today, it unpacks the cost of impulsive actions and the struggle to break free from a static existence. The track blends analog synths with expansive harmonies, reflecting a narrative of inner conflict, growth, and, eventually a path toward resolution.

Go give it a listen: https://www.trmhq.com/inertia

It’s official, will be releasing his sophomore record with The Record Machine with the first single Inertia coming out this Friday!

Eyelid Kid is the melodic alter ego of actor Paul Addison. In Addison’s world, desperation is a yellow traffic light, rearview mirrors become portals to the past, and fiction often overtakes function.

Born from the DIY indie music scene in Austin, Texas, Eyelid Kid has evolved alongside Addison’s journey from hometown stages to life as an actor in LA. Eyelid Kid combines introspective lyrics with blossoming synths and brain-scratching textures, creating music that’s both nostalgic and dance floor-ready. Whether on-screen or through music, Addison continues to explore raw, haunting emotions with honesty and energy, always striving to disrupt the inertia.

💥 New music out today from ! Go check out, missin' you; it's the second single from this Nashville duo. It's about old friends and the distance that can come between you. This one is so catchy I have been playing on repeat all day in the office.

Outer Reaches Featured Band Of The Day:

The independent experimentation of Pylon Reenacment Society marries distorted guitars and electronic elements with pop sensibility in their own unique way. The music dances between gentle to austere to delicate to haunting to existential. The guitars and vocals carry a post-punk angularity, with sharp right turns in the melodies and form. There’s a catharsis to the energy of Pylon Reenactment Society, like a room collectively releasing the stress and anxiety of a day with music about stress and anxiety. The electrifying drums, the punctual guitar work, the droning electronics and the ethereal vocals that float or fly — this concoction of music is a pot boiling over onto the stage.

Pylon Reenacment Society plays Saturday, September 21 at recordBar

Outer Reaches takes place:
