Today is a HOT one, our pastures are fried so we are putting out more hay for the animals, mounding up our bulk load of compost so it can begin to break down, and tonight we are having pork quesadillas for supper! At this point we are in the worst drought that Andy and I can remember, pumping water onto the pastures just isn't an option, the creek is drying up, we are conserving water where we can. We are praying for rain!

Today we are getting up our potatoes, the vines are dead and if we leave them they could possibly rot or sprout. This is the earliest either of us remember our potatoes being ready! We are a little concerned with them keeping throughout the heat of the summer, but we will do the best we can! Tonight for supper we are having simple baked chicken legs, leftover green beans with new potatoes, stewed squash and FRESH corn!! We are so thankful for our beautiful potato harvest!

Today we are making jam bars and blackberry jelly. I'm also trying to make some sweet gherkin pickles so we will see how those turn out. Also Andy is getting a lot of work done in the garden, we are having more trouble with voles as well as HOT and dry weather.
