Creating a Winning Family Culture

"Then Peter said to them, “Repent, and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. For the promise is to you and to your children, and to all who are afar off, as many as the Lord our God will call.”

Acts 2:38-39 (NKJV)

The gift of Holy Spirit living within us is a promise not only to you and me but to our children. Holy Spirit isn't only for grown-ups! Families can have a profound effect on children learning to sense Holy Spirit and follow Him, even from an early age!

As your kids see you praying and believing in God's strength, you're passing your faith onto them. They'll see the peace of God on you, and His presence flowing from you.

Take every opportunity to pray with your kids. Talk to them about what God is doing and what He has already done in your life. You can be an amazing example of what it looks like to have a relationship with Holy Spirit!

Remind your children and your spouse that Holy Spirit's presence is with them today. Share with your children some of the things you're learning in this course and how they can start a relationship with Holy Spirit, too.

The Spirit of Life

"For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has made me free from the law of sin and death."

Romans 8:2 (NKJV)

Holy Spirit is the Spirit of Life. He isn't the Spirit of sickness, sorrow or pain. He brings life to your emotions, your marriage, and your physical body.

When Jesus says that He came so that we could have life and have it abundantly (John 10:10), the word abundantly means: superior in quality and innumerable in quantity! You never have to worry that God is going to destroy something in your life or take His blessings away.

The truth is it isn't God who sets limits on you, it's what you believe that puts boundaries on your life. Meditate on this truth: the Spirit of Life is living within you. Let it speak to your bones, your body, your emotions, and your mind.

Begin to declare today, "Holy Spirit is within me so Life is within me. The Life of God is helping me to grow and to succeed in everything I put my hand to, in Jesus' name."

The Ultimate Teacher

"But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you."

John 14:26 (NKJV)

We've talked a lot about how Holy Spirit is our Helper, but another one of His roles is to be your Teacher. Did you know that He doesn't just teach you the Bible? God doesn't just know His Word. He knows everything about the universe—He created it!

Holy Spirit can teach you and bring all things to your remembrance.

Whether you're studying the Bible or you're a student in college, Holy Spirit is your Teacher. He can take complex things and help you understand them. When you're going through a difficult situation and you ask Holy Spirit for help, He'll bring up a verse or teaching. If you're writing a test, He'll remind you of the things you've studied.

Ask Him to help you with whatever you're involved in today. Holy Spirit is the ultimate Teacher!

Say this out loud today, "As I study today, I thank you that You're going to bring all things to my remembrance".

Holy Spirit Reveals Truth

"that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give to you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Him,"

Ephesians 1:17 (NKJV)

Holy Spirit is a Spirit of revelation. Revelation in the Greek means that you lift the veil and you see what's behind the curtain. This is what Holy Spirit does for us. He lifts the veil from our eyes and shows us the truth!

Another way to describe this revelation is like having an 'aha' moment or an epiphany. How many times have you been listening to someone preach and they said something in a certain way where everything came together and the truth just "clicked". That's Holy Spirit bringing revelation to you!

With Holy Spirit on the inside of you, your life can travel at such a level of excitement that there's no room for boredom! He'll give you revelation on how to break free financially, how to raise your kids, and how to talk to your spouse.

In whatever you do, Holy Spirit will always lead you into all truth.

Take this verse and declare today, "Father I thank you that I have the Spirit of Wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of you!"

Are You Seeking or Stifling Holy Spirit?

"Do not quench the Spirit."

1 Thessalonians 5:19 (NKJV)

"He who calls you is faithful who also will do it".

1 Thessalonians 5:24 (NKJV)

God will never force you to do anything. He has given you free will! We can do what we want, when we want it, how we want it and God won't stop us. But the truth is everything we say and do has consequences, good or bad.

The truth is that Holy Spirit can be quenched. When we do things we know we shouldn't do and do them anyway, or when we don't spend time with Holy Spirit we can stifle His ability to work in our lives.

We all make mistakes and fall short. If you're wondering if you've been quenching the Holy Spirit, don't worry! He hasn't left you! He loves you and wants to be involved in your life. Simply get back into the habit of spending time with Him and filling yourself with His presence.

Fellowshipping with Holy Spirit is how you stay filled with Him!

Even if you've fallen into a habit of pushing Holy Spirit off, say this out loud, "Today I give you permission to work on my life in any area that you want." Every day, make sure that you're not holding Him off, but that you're letting Him in.

Empowered to Share

"...those who have preached the gospel to you by the Holy Spirit sent from Heaven..."

1 Peter 1:12 (NKJV)

As believers, we can't wait for other people to share the Good News about Jesus. Holy Spirit wants to work through you to share your faith!

When you get to know Holy Spirit, the words you speak and things you do will be anointed by Him. It's not about what you say or how you say it. It's about allowing Holy Spirit to work through you.

All Holy Spirit needs is for you to have the willingness to act and take a step forward. He knows all things about all men and will flow through you to reach those who haven't yet started a relationship with Jesus. All He needs is for you to be willing and to take the first step! He will guide you in the rest!

This is my challenge for you today. Declare this, "Every time I say something to God or do something for God, I am Holy Spirit empowered!". Remember that Holy Spirit is backing you and flowing through you today!

What Fills You

"And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance."

Acts 2:4 (NKJV)

If you're a believer, Holy Spirit fills you. Because His Spirit is in you that means you're full of His power, peace, joy, patience, and kindness. It's when you live your life filled with the Spirit that it becomes easy to bear fruit in your life.

Did you know that you need to be filled continually with Holy Spirit? It doesn't just happen once when you become saved, you have to continually fill yourself up. It's when you're not filled with the Spirit that you begin to rely on your own strength. You might feel emotionally out of sorts or not able to handle things that come up in life.

This is why it's important to continue to be filled with Holy Spirit. Stay in the Word and be very conscious of Him as you go about each day. When you stay in a relationship with Holy Spirit, you can live a life that remains full!

Put your favourite worship song on and worship God. Focus on Him and be filled with His presence. Make sure you stay full of His Spirit today.

Reaching Others Through Holy Spirit's Help

"Then He said to His disciples, “The harvest truly is plentiful, but the laborers are few. Therefore pray the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into His harvest.”

Matthew 9:37-38 (NKJV)

As you become more familiar with sensing Holy Spirit's guidance in your life, you'll notice that He'll lead you from selfishness to selflessness. You'll become more sensitive to the needs of people around you.

Do you want to know what's on Holy Spirit's mind? All the time, He's thinking of ways to get you to say and do things that will draw people to Jesus! The more time you spend with Him, you'll sense this incredible desire to win the lost and reach people for Jesus! No excuse will do!

As you continue being led by Holy Spirit, He'll help you become a harvester. Every day—everywhere you go, you'll be an ambassador for Christ!

While you're going about your day say, "Holy Spirit, I will help you with the harvest." Then watch Him guide you in ways to reach out to people who's lives will be changed!

Supernatural Guidance

"However, when He, the Spirit of truth, has come, He will guide you into all truth; for He will not speak on His own authority, but whatever He hears He will speak; and He will tell you things to come."

John 16:13 (NKJV)

Holy Spirit is the Spirit of Truth and His job is to guide you into all truth.

As you go on this journey of learning who Holy Spirit is and learning to sense His guidance, one thing to remember is that He'll never guide you against God's Word. The more you know the Word, the greater ability Holy Spirit has to guide you!

This time studying God's Word is a great way to make sure that you're guided by God in every decision you make. Because Holy Spirit knows the future, He knows what is best for you right at this moment. When you follow Holy Spirit's lead, you get His supernatural guidance!

In any decision you make today, ask Holy Spirit to guide you. He'll guide you in how to develop your relationships, give you wisdom for finances and will even guide you in how to discipline your kids. You can trust Him!

Holy Spirit is Always With You

"the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees Him nor knows Him; but you know Him, for He dwells with you and will be in you."

John 14:17 (NKJV)

Holy Spirit dwells with you. This means He's not just in you, but He's with you wherever you go. Imagine it like a cloud of peace that surrounds you every minute of every day.

This didn't happen with any of the Old Testament believers because Jesus hadn't died and risen again yet. When Jesus died and took our sin, He filled us with the Spirit of God. You are an eternal being!

Even if you feel alone in the physical realm, you aren't alone because Holy Spirit is within you AND He dwells around you.

Today I want you to be aware that Holy Spirit is within you; He will never leave! Say out loud whenever you feel alone, "Thank you God that Holy Spirit is always within me and He's always with me. I know that I am never alone."

Today I want you to get this one truth: there is no miracle you need that the presence of God on the inside of you can't produce. What often stops us from walking in the miraculous is our own logic and reasoning. Miracles aren't produced in the mind, they're produced in the heart.

A Refreshing Presence

"But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life."

John 4:14 (KJV)

This verse compares spending time with Holy Spirit to drinking from a well. When you spend time with Holy Spirit, it's reviving. It says you'll never thirst again. But this verse also shows us that we need to make the decision to go to the well and drink.

When you chase after things other than God, it does nothing but make you thirstier. But Jesus is saying that whoever drinks the water that He gives—will never thirst again.

As you learn to fellowship with Holy Spirit, you're drinking from the presence of God. The life that Holy Spirit brings permeates your emotions, your relationships, and even your health. Spending time with Holy Spirit every day is like drawing from the well and bringing up fresh water.

Today as you spend time with Holy Spirit, say: "Holy Spirit, lead me and guide me. Today I thank you for the refreshing that Holy Spirit brings. Thank you, Jesus, for Holy Spirit. He is refreshing me".

Holy Spirit Goes Ahead of You

"In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. The earth was without form, and void; and darkness was on the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters."

Genesis 1:1-2 (NKJV)

Here, God is about to speak and create trees, animals, oceans and all the beautiful things on this planet. And before God speaks, this verse says that Holy Spirit was hovering over the waters.

Holy Spirit is always ahead of you. He knows the end from the beginning. This brings great courage to us believers because there's nowhere we will go that Holy Spirit hasn't already gone before.

In any situation, Holy Spirit knows what people are trying to do with your job, your family and what the treatment will do to your body. His job is to put the Word to work as we believe it in our hearts and speak it out loud over our situation.

Today I want you to speak out loud, "There's nowhere I will go today that Holy Spirit hasn't gone before. He is working in situations that I am not even aware of. The Spirit of the Lord is moving in my future and preparing a path of blessing".

Convinced of 3 Things

"And when he is come, he will reprove the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment"

John 16:8 (NKJV)

If you were raised in a religious upbringing, this might sound crazy to you at first: as a believer, Holy Spirit's job is no longer to convince you of your sin—it's to convince you that you're righteous. This is the second thing Holy Spirit convinces us of in today's verse.

The third thing is that Holy Spirit convinces us that there's a coming judgment.

On the cross, Jesus took the judgment of God and the penalty of our sin on Himself. You may be asking "If that's true, Leon, then why does He have to convince us of judgment?" Holy Spirit convinces us that there will be judgment so we can keep our focus on advancing God's Kingdom.

Salvation isn't just meant for you and I. We must share the Good News of Jesus everywhere we go. One of the roles of Holy Spirit is to keep this passion in our hearts to share Jesus with those who haven't been saved.

I want you to begin to say this out loud: "I am righteous because it's a gift from Jesus." Spend some time meditating and thanking God for this gift of righteousness today.

A Power That Never Leaves

"But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth."

Acts 1:8 (KJV)

If there's one thing I want you to get from today's lesson, it's this: Holy Spirit's power resides within you and it's upon you. This means that if you're a believer, His power never leaves!

Do you know how to access Holy Spirit's power?

His power will help you understand His Word, escape temptation and empowers you to do the things Jesus desires. It'll even help you with your finances, business and relationships.

If you feel powerless in any area, keep doing these lessons with me each day and start fellowshipping with Holy Spirit. When you do, you'll uncover the truth about who He is and His help that's available to you!

Where do you need Holy Spirit's power? Ask Him to show you this truth: His power is already within you and upon you. As you continue this fellowshipping with Holy Spirit each day, you'll know the truth about who He is and the help that He makes available to you.

Developing an Awareness of Holy Spirit
"The wind blows where it wishes, and you hear the sound of it, but cannot tell where it comes from and where it goes. So is everyone who is born of the Spirit.”

John 3:8 (NKJV)

If your walk with God doesn't stir up passion and excitement, then you're missing the adventure that comes with being led by Holy Spirit. But being led by Holy Spirit is about more than living a life of adventure, it's about trusting God.

You may not always know why Holy Spirit is guiding you in a certain way, or why you feel led to make a decision. (This is why Holy Spirit is compared to wind). But it's when you place your trust in God and you follow Holy Spirit's lead that you'll see some of the most exciting miracles take place.

Do you need guidance in knowing which job to take? Or maybe you're fighting an ongoing illness and need to know which course of treatment you should choose. Know that Holy Spirit is within you and will show you which direction to go.

Right now say out loud, "Holy Spirit, guide me even when I don't understand it. I will do what you guide me to do". Say this again every time worry tries to creep into your heart about a decision you need to make.

Getting Rid of Fear

"So we may boldly say: 'The Lord is my helper; I will not fear. What can man do to me?”

Hebrews 13:6 (NKJV)

Holy Spirit is your helper.

The Bible says that as we become aware of Holy Spirit and His incredible ability to manifest Himself in our lives, you'll begin to lose your fear of people. You don't need to be afraid of anyone or anything.

You see, if Holy Spirit is helping you, there is nothing anyone can do to stop the blessing or the favour of God on your life. In whatever you're facing right now, know that you don't need to fear what people may do because Holy Spirit is your Helper.

I encourage you to read today's verse repeatedly until you get this truth deep down into your heart: The Lord is your helper, you do not need to fear what people can do.

When you start to feel worried, say this out loud, "The Lord is my helper, I will not fear what anyone can do to me".

If there's a certain situation you're facing where someone's actions are causing fear to creep in, fill in their name, "The Lord is my helper, I will not fear what __________ can do to me".

The Helper

"And I will pray the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may abide with you forever—the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees Him nor knows Him; but you know Him, for He dwells with you and will be in you."

John 14:16-17 (NKJV)

In John 16:7, Jesus told the disciples that it was to their advantage that He leave this earth and be with His Father in Heaven. Why would He say that?

When Jesus walked the planet, He was confined to a human body everywhere He went. He had to become flesh so He could represent the human race. As Jesus was about to leave this earth He said it's good for me to go because another Helper is going to come. As our Helper, it's Holy Spirit who manifests the power, and miraculous signs and wonders of God in our lives.

Where do you need help? Do you need healing? Do you need help in a difficult conversation with a family member? Do you need help restoring relationships? Remember that Holy Spirit is your Helper in ALL that you do.

In whatever you do today, quietly say, "Holy Spirit help me". As you ask for His help, you'll become aware of Holy Spirit's strength and guidance.

Praying in Power

"But you, beloved, building yourselves up on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Spirit,"

Jude 1:20 (NKJV)

Did you know that Holy Spirit prays with you?

In past lessons I've taught that Holy Spirit knows the end from the beginning. He knows everything about everyone. It's in this knowledge that He leads and guides us to pray. Holy Spirit may give you a little nudge to call someone, or He might bring verses to your mind as you're praying for a loved one and it's the exact promise you need in that moment!

Think about your own time in prayer. Is it more of a dry repetition? Something that you do out of duty? Or is it filled with passion as you engage with Holy Spirit.

As you begin to pray and engage with Holy Spirit, He'll stir things up on the inside of you. Your prayer life will become dynamic and passionate! It's an amazing thing when you're connected to Holy Spirit and you learn to pray with Him.

Set aside some time today to pray for others. As you do, slow down and let yourself be aware of what Holy Spirit is speaking to you. When someone comes to mind, begin to pray and speak God's Word over them. That's Holy Spirit leading you!

Honouring Holy Spirit

"And the spirit of the Lord shall rest upon him, the spirit of wisdom and understanding, the spirit of counsel and might, the spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the Lord."

Isaiah 11:2 (KJV)

Something I've noticed about every great man or woman of God I've met is that they have the fear of God. When we talk about the fear of God, we mean this reverent awe and amazement that we hold towards Him.

When Holy Spirit leads you to do something, do you follow Him right away?

If you don't have this 'awe' for God, His Word and Holy Spirit, it will be hard for God to use you. To be able to sense God and be used by Him, it starts with awe, respect and amazement of Him.

this message will cause something new to take place in you as you become in awe of the plans and purposes of God.

Every time you think about this lesson, say out loud and tell God, "I am in awe of You, I am in awe of Your plan and I am in awe of Your presence within me. Guide and lead me.

What His Presence Feels Like

"And immediately, coming up from the water, He saw the heavens parting and the Spirit descending upon Him like a dove."

Mark 1:10 (NKJV)

Holy Spirit is often misunderstood. Many believers look for big signs and manifestations of the Spirit, or they think they have to "work up" the environment for Him to show up. But they couldn't be more wrong.

The verse says that Holy Spirit came upon Jesus like a dove. With Holy Spirit, there's a gentle rest and a peace that comes with knowing Him.

Maybe you've been trying hard in your own strength to see a miracle in your life. Instead, I challenge you to set aside some quiet time every day to focus on Holy Spirit and sense His presence. When you're aware of Holy Spirit's presence, then you'll begin to sense His peace and direction in your life.

Declare out loud today whenever you feel anxious or worried, "Holy Spirit is bringing peace into my life. I am not afraid."

Receiving Help in Your Weakness

"Likewise the Spirit also helps in our weaknesses. For we do not know what we should pray for as we ought, but the Spirit Himself makes intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered. Now He who searches the hearts knows what the mind of the Spirit is, because He makes intercession for the saints according to the will of God."

Romans 8:26-27 (NKJV)

We all have weaknesses. As human beings, we're limited by the things we know and don't know. But Holy Spirit knows everything about everybody, and He knows what each of us will do in the future. He knows the end from the beginning. That's what makes Him the best Helper!

Holy Spirit will guide you in any weaknesses you have. He'll show you what to say, what to choose, or how to help someone that comes in your path. Holy Spirit has done it for me, and I know He'll do it for you too.

I know that as you go through these teachings and learn more about who Holy Spirit is you'll learn to sense His guidance deep on the inside of you like never before.

Make it your focus today to ask Holy Spirit for help in any situation. When you don't know what to do or say, slow down, focus on Him and let Him guide you in which path to take.

Starting your journey with Holy Spirit

"When the Day of Pentecost had fully come, they were all with one accord in one place. And suddenly there came a sound from heaven, as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled the whole house where they were sitting. Then there appeared to them divided tongues, as of fire, and one sat upon each of them. And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance."

Acts 2:1-4 (NKJV)

Are you waiting on a move of God?

When you go back and study the Old Testament, you'll see that Holy Spirit was only on a few people at any given time. But under the New Covenant—and in today's verse—we see that Holy Spirit came and rested on every person individually.

Acts 2:2, where it says Holy Spirit came upon them like a rushing wind, the word 'wind' literally means 'breath'. It's like God's Spirit is being breathed into mankind. This was the start of Holy Spirit being in us and upon us as believers.

Today, I want you to know that Holy Spirit is with you if you are a believer. He is here now in an even greater way than the men and women you read about in the Old Testament.

If you're a believer, you've been filled with Holy Spirit! Why don't you take a minute right now and thank God for His presence living on the inside of you? Ask Holy Spirit to teach you and open your eyes to the truth in the lessons to come.
